The purpose -of qur Bible
Study today is to show how a
consecrated mother and a faith
ful and understanding' father
created in Nazareth a home God
could use for fashioning a new
humanity and for beginning a
new world; we will endeavor to
further show how God depends
ipon homes to, provide stand
ards and incentives imperative
for abundant living today, -
As we follow the story of the
Annunciation an.d of the cireum-
Iftances surrounding the birth of
Jesus, we get an insight into
he ' struggle that went on iii
he hearts of this humble car-
enter, Joseph, and nis wue,

this humble carpenter's home re-
fleets the highest in family liv
ing and religious faith.
This home Shows us. . God's
areat love fdr h u m a m t y.
Through Mary's great devotion
we sense God's infinite compas-t
sion and yearning for au, nis
children, even for you and me. :

homes for all that is most imv
portant to hira and for tha't;
whic'h is most cherished by us. i
God is stilt W the business o
creating a new humanity and
new world. Christianity is still
his enterprise for helping people
find release from U that defeats
them and for helping them find
entrance into all that cleanses
heals, and ennobles them.
Christianity has lasting mean
ing because it is a message about
God an - invitation 4o know,
ipvej and; ohy him, . Our homes
endifthis'ihviiattpnVand oouv
vey this message best. : The best
teachers of religion in the world
are not preachers or church
school teachers,- devoted and
well-trained and able though
these may be. The best teach
are are " parents. . Ministers,
teachers and churches are inef
iective ii tney.-are in compe
tition with' training that children
receive from their families. The
phrase "in competition'' is used
advisedly. : A home is never
neutral about religion. Parents,
by what they are and do, are
always teaching religion. . The
question . is WHAT are - they
teaching about it? Do they in
sist that their children attend
church services on Sunday? Or
do they feel that religion is of
little importance? What the
parents DO, is what they teach.
wnat possible cnance has a
church to succeed with you in
one or two hours a week, if his
home is pulling him in the op
posite direction, fifty to sixty
hours a week? ,
We parents would da well to
ponder on this thought!
.Christianity has meaning hot
only because It is a message
about God,- but also because it
is a message about men,, It ia
an invitation, for itnen, Ao enjoy
