The resignation of Fran ces Marshbourne, who' has been teaching the seventh grade in Hertford Grammar School , was accepted. The employment of Mrs. Julian A. (Minnie) White to fill the vacancy was approved. The employment of Miss Mary Morris and Miss Fran ces Marshbourne by . the E.S.E.A) Office was approved by the Board. - During the meeting the board voted to approve the extension of the period of absence because of sickness for Mrs. Fenton ( Elizabeth ) Britt and George' Reid. , . Nixon and Ellis Winslow, met here Monday in their February meeting and au thorized D. F. Reed, Jr., county accountant, to invest $15,000 paid back from cer tificates of deposit. The board approved a pe tition submitted by' James G. White, et als, requesting the State Highway Commission to add to state maiinatincd secondary road system four tenths of a mile of the old Woodville road leading from &. ,K. 1330 m Woodville. to ward Little River in New Hope Township. A resolution was adopted by the board that the State Highway Commission hav added to the state maintain ed secondary road system road known as Lee Wilson Koad in New Hope Town ship. The State Highway vommission is now request ed to grade, drain and stub ilize with local material the l-ce Wilson Road if neces sary right of way can be acquired by the State High way Commission. Perry Taken In Death Vernon Lea- Perry, 41, of Route 3, died .suddenly Sat urday afternoon in the Al bemarle Hospital. A native of Perqxnmans County, ' "ftp was the son of Joseph B. Perry, Ci. and the late Mrs. Mabel Chappell Perrv. and the husband of Mrs. Georcria Barnett Perry. He was a member of 1hn First Methodist Church and was a Navv veteran of World War II. He was as sistant engineer of District I, Division 1 of the N. C. State Highway Commission. Besides his wife and fath er, he is survived by a son, Bryan Lee Perry, and a daughter, Miss Nancv Kvra Perry, both of the home: two brothers, Joseph B. Per ry, Jr., of Route 1, and El wood. H. Perry of Route 2: a. sister, Mrs. Paul T. Per ry of Virginia Beach, Va. . A funeral service was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the First Metho dist Church by Rev. R. L. Bame, pastor. "How Great Thou Art" was sung by Rev. Norman Harris. He was accom panied by Miss Caroline Wright, organist. The casket pall was made of red roses, white chrysan themums, stock and fern.
