Parents of children many of whom have been raised on pro gressive theories which are now largely discredited have an obligation to cooperate with school authorities In every way possible and to make their task easier as they attempt to guide, train and educate the children of this community. Children must be disciplined, as well as educated for if they disciplined they cannot be edu cated. This is one point parents must keep in mind. Also. It should be remembered that proper disciplining never bun anyone, ana is a prerequisite in our social order, a lack of which Is responsible for much of our juvenile delinquency. As the school year gets under way, we urge all parents to co operate with teachers and school officials, and encourage their children with the proper attitude. So, as much as In me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also." - (Romans 1: 14-15) Lesson Text: Acts 28: 17-31 The salient point to be made through this lesson Is the fact that commitment to witnessing continues, no matter what the obstacles encountered. We saw, during our last lesson, Paul and his companions weathering a storm of stupendous proportions; we saw Paul, confident in his destiny regarding the Lord's work, hold steadfast to his convictions, and impart to his companions -sorely afraid though they were - some measure of con fidence and hope. In our lesson for today we see Paul ensconced on the island of Mellta, continuing In his life's work of teaching ' the gospel to all who would listen, no matter what their religious beliefs. ; And, eventually, what God had willed for Paul, came to pass. He entered Rome, to bear witness to his beliefs. True, he was under Roman guards; his freedom -though greater than being confined in a prison cell... as he had been on previous occasions - was limited. Nevertheless, Paul continued to exhort unbelievers to be come believers. He talked (and taught) to the prison guards on earlier occasions. He talked to the guards in his present dilemma. He never gave upt Whether he succeeded or fail ed, he reached many persons during the two years of his , "Imprisonment" in Rome I He also, during this time, witnessed for Christ through the written word, for at least four of his epistles were written during that period ... Phllipplans, Epheslans, Colosslans, and Philemon. And the messages contained therein continue to resound around the world today - indeed, as they will, In years to cornel While It Is true that we may not approximate the Pauls of the Christian world, still, there Is a lot to be leaned from his example ... and who knows - if we apply his doggedness and determination (even in a small way) that example, multiplied over and over a thousand or more times, might just add up to a telling total! For God is concerned with the SPIRIT, more than actual accomplishments! b this troubled and complex world In which we live today, there are many people fighting for sanity, fighting to make a living . . . fighting to overcome disappointments and setbacks which have struck at their very existence. They are unsung heroes - casualties In a tough, demanding world. Yet, they hang on . . . somehow. Is tt too much to suppose that they cling to s belief ... Intangible, yet, to them, very real? We all need something in which to believe - something to cling to, no matter what tragedy befalls us. Paul had the answer, in his time, and In ours. Hope - faith - courage and CONVICTIONI .
