The girls seem very enthusiastic and are making much progress. i The Perquimans Indians were again defeated by Bertie. The or, 6.27, indicates the Indians are Improving. All the fans are looking forward to the game Fri day which will be home. Saturday night the Per-Co-Hi Tattler Staff sponsored a dance featuring the "Select Company" from Virginia. The dance was very successful and from an re ports everyone enjoyed it. The Student Council and Beta Club are making plans for the supper they will sponsor before the ball game Friday night. Monday school newspapers! were sold to the students. It was the first school newspaper this year. PCHS has another new teacher, Mrs. Shelton Davis. He teaches English and History. Mr. Davis seems, to be popular with the students. Seniors completed the election of their class officers. Quarterback Joe Winslow scored on a 20-yard run before the game was five minutes old. Minutes later Winslow scored on a 35 yard jaunt to give Perquimans a 12 point lead. Creecy took to the air in a vain attempt to de claw the irate Panthers who had dropped a 12-6 game to Wash ington County Union of Roper the week before, which was their sec ond loss in 27 games played dat ing back to 1964. Percy Davis defensive half back intercepted a Creecy pass and ran 40 yards to score standing. Winslow scored his 13th point of the game by bulling over for the extra point. The third quarter saw Per qulmans rip Creecy with another score as Percy Davis passed to halfback Chester Jordon for a 30.yard touchdown. Davis ran over for the extra point and Perquimans led 260. The. final score of the game came when Davis hit Robert Lee Jones In the end zone with a 20-yard pass. Perquimans is now 3-1.0. Governor's Wife Set To Christen Research Vessel RALEIGH Mrs. Dan Moore, the first lady of North Carolina, will do the honors at Morehead City on Oct. 8 when the State dedicates its new, 85-foot, ex ploratory fishing vessel, the "Dan Moore". The dedication ceremonies will be held at the State Port Terminal at Morehead City on the opening day of the fall, quarterly meeting of the Board of Conservation and Develop ment. The "Dan Moore" will have a crew of seven and two marine biologist will be assigned per manently to the craft. The Divi sion of Commercial and Sports Fisheries will operatethe vessel which will be based at the divi sion's Camp Glenn facilities at Morehead City. The research vessel was built by New Bern Shipyards at a cost of $395,000. An addi tional $30,000 was spent for fishing gear, scientific equip ment and operational gear. Of this amount, approximately $15,000 was Federal funds under provisions of the Commercial Fisheries Research and Development Act. The remain der was appropriated by the 196 5 General Assembly for con struction of the craft. The 1967 General Assembly appropriated $94,000 for operating funds during the 1967-69 blennium. The vessel is expected to be in full operation in North Car olina coastal waters by late fall.' Its primary mission will be to lo cate commercially valuable stocks of marine fish and de velop better means of catching them and bringing them ashore. The "Dan Moore's" crew Is currently composed of Jim Ster ling, biologist-project leader; David L. Beverldge, captain; ban Fulcher, chief mate; Don ald Fulcher, chief engineer; and Donald Willis, boatswain. Three additional crew members will be added in the near future. The Board of Conservation and Development has Invited the pub lic at attend the didlcatlon cere monies for the "Dan Moore" to be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 8. 1967. at the State Port Terminal in Morehead City. The report said Duke over charged by $12,241; CP&L by $6,289,000; Nantahala by $599, 000, and Yadkin by $367100.
