This committee, working with the Merchants Committee of the Perquimans County Chamber of Commerce tries to visit all newcomers to Hertford at which time they present them with a booklet of coupons redeemable for gifts or merchandise at the participating stores. Also, they are given a brochure on Per quimans County, a copy of the First Deedand a pamphlet giv ing names of local ministers, doctors and emergency num bers. They are Miss Evelyn Ruth Tarkenton, daughter of William F. Tarkenton Sr. of 112 Covent Garden, and Miss Sandra Kay wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Walton Wood of Rt. 3, Hertford. Miss Tarkenton received a certificate as an obstetrical tech. nlclan. Miss Wood is certified as an operating room technician. Both have accepted positions at Baptist Hospital. The program is designed for LPN's who seek to extend their service into specialized areas of the hospital. In the operating room course, the student learns to function as an Important member of the surgical team. As a scrub nurse, Miss Wood will assist a doctor during surgery, handle sterile supplies and help the clrculau lng nurse. In distributing some 425,000 tickets to school children and teachers of the secondary schools of the state, Manager Arthur K. pltzer, has announced that school tickets may be used any day of Fair week, and at any time of the day. Previously the tickets could be used only on certain days. In 1962 Commissioner L. Y; BaU lentlne honored them Mondays through Fridays If they were presented before 6:00 p.m. Continued requests by school people for an unlimited time usage brought about the new regulation. The tickets may be used now at any time during fair week. But, instead of being a free full admission, they are good for half of the price of ad mission: I.e., for students the ticket and 25 cents are required tor a single gate admission, and for teachers the ticket and 50 cents are required. Manager Pltzer explained that many children and teachers were unable to reach the Fairgrounds on days the tickets were ac cepted, or could not arrive be-j fore the 6:00 o'clock deadline. These were required to pay the full admission price, while those arriving earlier paid nothing, "This year, each student and each teacher coming to the Fair will pay a small amount, but It will be an equitable charge for all," Pltzer stated.
