Another of our citizens of to Morrow was taken In death here &turday In the death of fifteen tar old Mark Beers. Early yril of this year Tommy lder was taken in death and lifune, Fannie Lane. For these three youths of ttfttfen, and I feel that this ed itor can speak for the entire county In their death's, the bounty is saddened, and their toss Is felt today and will be tomorrow, as they were two of rr citizens of tomorrow. . For Mark, we have the high est praise, hampered physically since birth, he was highly In telligent and strlved though phy sically handicapped to compete with his age group. All who Knew him, loved him. For Tommy Wilder and Fanny Cane we can say the same. They were not hampered physically. "They were killed in automobile accidents. No doubt Tommy would have become a great musl. clan, as It was his first love. Mark too, had a love for music and might also have been a musician. Fannie, who lost her life In an accident In June, would have contributed to our county in someway also. At any rate, whatever these three youths may Save chosen as a future, we feel they would have been patterns in life for others to live by. To the families and grand parents of these line youtns w offer our deepest aym pathy," as you have to pass thru these oara ciouas in u iu reallv trulv realize the hurt that It leaves in the hearts of their loved ones. Hunting Holes With the hunting season approaching we ask hunters in this community to observe sporting and humane rules In all game hunting. There was a time when disregard of the bag limit did not seriously affect the supply of game the next year; that day has passed In most areas. ' Disregard of bag limits in many areas has reduced the supply of game to a point where it is obviously in the best of interest of preservation to stay within the limit. Despite the fact that this is obvious, some hunters exhibit too much enthusiasm on good hunting days and often liberally exceed the bag limit, especially with birds. This is an appeal to all good sportsmen to preserve the game supply in this area for future years and future hunters. The advantages in obeying the law In this respect grow greater and greater with each passing year. MEMORY SELECTIDNi 'Sack good, and not evil, that ye may llvei and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you.' -(Amos 5:14 LESSON TEXT Amos 3-6 The thoughtful student of today's lesson will make a mental and spiritual comparison between eondltlons ex isting in Isreal si the time of Amos message to hor people, and those in our own country today. Israel was enjoying a time of peace) and plenty; for gotten wera the hardships, and the-common bond those hardships had forged among her people. Some were rich, and some were poor, and the rich devoured the poor; they squandered their blessings In ways that were contrary to God's Covenants. Their relationship wttb God had become coarsened by their riches. They had lost their humility, , their sense of direction, their closeness to the Lord. " m the days of Israel's trials and tribulations her courage and her stamina were taxed to the utmost. But under girded by her faith those same qualities were unquenchable. She was a hard core of purpose God's purpose and nothing could vanquish her indomitable spirit. But with prosperity came a softening of the backbone of the nation, and (ultimately) transgression from the waya of righteousness and the keeping of God's laws. Today, as a nation, are we in danger of the same laxity? The articles contained in our dally newspapers, on radio broadcasts, and on television, would seem to say that we arel What can dedicated Christians do, to stem this deplor able state of affairs? Righteous living, as prescribed by God, la our only weapon but what a telling weapons against the forces of evUltUI Sin is an unacceptable social behavior, in any day or time. It Is a form of rebellion against God, and its in evitable progeny are Injustices, lnterperate living, an overt concern for material comforts, a false sense of security, and a growing unconcern for those In need. How sinful, In God's eyes, are we? - God's messages, throughout the years, have called for repentance. He still demands It, today. If we are to serve him faithfully and well. Each Individual must decide for himself; but in making bis decision he cannot afford to ignore the lessons of hlstoryl For those peoples who have set themselves against God and His covenants, have inevitably fallen from His Grace) Can we afford such a payment? bdlvldually or collectively? Our securitTMboth as individuals and as a nation, lies in a right relationship with God, To attain such a state we must be temperate In! all things not Just ab staining from alcoholic beverages (which is usually as sociated with the word temperate"- but temperate in our ambitions, our physical needs. . - Our responsibility to God and to mankind Ues in good stewardship of our many blessings money, courage, kindness, concernMfor all these are 'wealth". Spiritual values, to the dedicated Chrlstaln, are vealth, Indeed, to be .husbanded with care. For whUe misfortune can rob us our money, it can only strengthen the spirit, ' As practtvtng Christians we must forget self, and re-; member and care for others.
