Lightfoot Is Participating In HAT0 Training U.S. Air Force Sergeant Sidney D. Lightfoot, ion of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph K. Lightfoot of Star Route, Winfall, N.C, is participating in a massive NATO training exercise in West Germany. Sergeant Lightfoot, an air freight specialist at Norton AFB, Calif., is supporting Military Airlift Command C-141 Starlifter aircrews transporting more than 2,200 Tactical Air Command personnel and 1,000 tons of cargo from the U.S. to Germany and back. A total of 74 C-141S are sup porting four squadrons of F-4 Phantom tactical fighter squadrons from Holloman AFB, N.M., and Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. Redeployed to the U.S. from Germany in 1968, the Fighter-bomber crews are operating from their former home stations at Hahn, Spangdahlem, Bitburg and Ramstein air bases. The month-long maneuver is the second in a projected series bf annual exercises to be con ducted as part of the U.S. con tribution to increased NATO readiness. Sergeant Lightfoot is a 1967 graduate of Perquimans County union High School. Hostess To Bridge Club Mrs. W. C. Dozier was hostess to her bridge club Tuesday night at her home on Market Street. Cancer Meeting Held Monday Night The Perquimans County Unit of the American Cancer Society met Monday night at the REA Building with Mrs. Marlon Payne, President, presiding. Dr. Harold White presented the Devotional. Mrs. Kay Tice, Secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting and Frank Mansfield gave the Treasurer's report. During the business session, the president announced the resignation of the Treasurer, due to business reasons, and said Gene Boyce would finish the unexpired term of office. Mrs. Payne gave a report on the Crusade Kick-Off Dinner Meeting held in Edenton recently. A film on Cancer Crusade Work, narrated by Fess Parker, was shown by Mrs. Carol"1 Harrell, current Perquimans County Crusade Chairman. At the conclusion of the business, a social hour was enjoyed by the group. Honored lit Birthday Supper Mrs. Ernest W. White was honored with a birthday supper recently at the home of her sister and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Umphlett. Those en joying the occasion were: Mr. and Mrs. Ernest W. White and son Wayne, grandson Ernie Rennie, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Newell, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis E. Jennings and daughter Sharon Renee, Mr. Billy Umphlett and daughter Martha. After a delicious pot pie supper the birthday cake was served with home made ice cream and a delightful time was enjoyed by all.
