These photos show the students determining the ages of the trees in problem 8 and the value and volume of trees in problem 9 with , a N.C. Forest Service ranger looking on. Camden FFA team captured first place honors; Knapp High School, second place; and Gates County High School came in third. L "CUDDY" TIUEY, Chairman $311.00 to be added for Chowan Hospital; James Lee Williams, charged with being drunk, (2nd offense), was ordered to serve 30 days in jail starting at 6 p.m. each Friday and released each Monday at 7 a.m. for 10 week ends; William Linwood Harris was tried for 3 charges, (2) charges drunk, resisting arrest, and assault with a deadly weapon. The defendant was sentenced to 20 days on the first charge, which was suspended upon payment of a fine of $10.00 and costs; he was sentenced to 90 days on the assault with a deadly weapon, which was suspended upon payment of a $100.00 fine and costs and ordered to totally abstain from whiskey for a period of 3 years and not carry a knife blade or pick for a period of 3 years; he was sentenced to 90 days for the 2nd drunk charge, which was suspended upon payment of a fine of $50.00 and costs. Gene Turner was taxed with a fine of $10.00 and costs on a speeding charge. Perquimans Tri-Centennial was planned and sponsored by the Perquimans County Chamber of Commerce. Frank Roberts manager of the Chamber and Jean Harrison secretary with Highway Com missioner Joe Nowell, chairman of the event, plus Charles Skinner and Bill Cox the parade committee, are certainly to be congratulated for a perfect celebration. Williams, President of the Perquimans County Restoration Association was a special guest at the dedication of the Visitor Center Historic Bath State Historic Site, Bath, N.C. on this past Saturday morning. Dr. H.G. Jones, Director, Department of Ar chives and History of the State of N.C. presided. The Honorable Robert W. Scott, Governor of North Carolina gave the dedicatory address. Others on the program were: Mrs. Fred W. Morrison, Vice Chairman of the Historic Bath Commission; the Hon. Ashley B. Futrell, Senator Elect, Second District; the Rev. A.C.D. Noe, Rector Emeritus, St. Thomas Episcopal Church; the Rev. William Haney, Bath Christian Church; Mr. Raymond Sawyer, Architect for the Site; Mrs. Joye E. During the week-long celebration every community in the county had recognition days and a program planned and Three Local C0A Students Injured In Accident Georgia Kaye Winslow, Linda Long and James H. Shaw, all of Perquimans, were admitted to the Albemarle Hospital last Wednesday afternoon about 3 o'clock following a car-truck crash three miles south of Elizabeth City on US 17. Georgia Kaye Winslow was driver of the car and Augustus Barclift of Rt. 3. Hertford, driver of the truck. According to information a tire blew out on the north bound tractor-truck being driven by Barclift and loaded with corn, causing the driver to lose control and swerve into the left lane where the truck hit the driver side of the Winslow car. The truck continued on into the left ditch and the car came to rest in a ditch on the right side of the road. ROOK CLUB MEETS Mrs. D. F.
