The Law
Why are the crimes of arson
and burglary punishable by
death?
Both of these crimes are
against the habitation of human
beings and have always been
regarded as of the most serious
or aggravated offenses. The law
has been zealous in the protec
tion of a man's home.
How soon after a person has
been sentenced to life im
prisonment may he be paroled?
He becomes eligible to apply
for parole when he has served
ten years of his sentence. His
release on parole at this time is
not automatic. A statute merely
gua- .ntees to every prisoner a.
review and consideration of his
case upon its merit at this time.
If a prisoner has been sen
tenced to prison for a period of
years, he becomes eligible to
have his case considered for
parole when he has served one-
fourth of his sentence.
