stration Club for a number of
years.
She attended Guilford College,
and taught in the public schools
of North Carolina for several
years.
Sht was a most faithful
member of Up-Rlver Friends
Meeting. She had great spiritual
depth, and often spoke, or
vocalized In prayer, in meetings
tor worship, conveying
message that was uplifting, and
inspiring, She was a good Sunday
School teacher, and taught the
young married people's class for
a number of years. She served as
an Elder for an appointed time.
She was faithful to attend
Yearly Meeting, and to bring
back a good report.
She served on many different
committee meetings through a
space of time.
She was faithful to attend
Sunday School and meetings for
worship almost to the end of her
life.
She had strong faith, and
walked very closely to the Lord.
Her sweet smile of endurance
during the last few months of her
illness will long be remembered
She was ever faithful to her
Lord, her husband and family
and her friends and neighbors
One of her favorite poems was,
"The Friend Who Just Stands
By"
When trouble comes, your soul to
try,
You love the friend who just
stands by,
Perhaps there's nothing he can
do -
The thing is simply up to you,
For there are troubles all yourj
own,
And paths the soul must travel
all alone,

Delta Kappa Gamma Action
ACTION, the key word in the
Delta Kappa Gamma society,
international honorary society
for women educators, was
evident both in the business
meeting and throughout the
Times when love cannot smooth
the road,
Nor friendship lift the heavy
load.
But just to feel you have a friend
Who will stand by until the end;
Whose sympathy through all
endures
Whose warm hand clasp is
always yours,
It helps some way to pull you
tnrougn,
Although there's nothing he can
do.
And so with fervent heart you
cry,
"God bless the friend who just
stands by - .
-Y.Williams
Surely Sobelia was a friend
who stood by as best she could,
anywhere that she was needed,
doing anything she could to help.
She liked to entertain visitors
in her home, and many were the
people who visited there.
She will be greatly missed but
our loss is heaven's gain so we
must bow in humble submission
to our dear Heavenly Father's
will, knowing that He never
makes a mistake.
Be it resolved that a copy of
this tribute be sent to the
Perquimans Weekly, a copy be
kept in our minutes, and a copy
be sent to the family of the
deceased, as an expression of our
love for her.
