Mattle. as she was at- fectionately called, was the daughter of Jesse, and Rebecca Winslow. She was corn, in me Whiteston Community, in Perquimans County March 22. 1897. On April Z4tn. iw sne was married to John Lassiter. Two sons were born to this union. Harold Lassiter. of Norfolk. Va., and Elmer Lassiter of the whiteston Community. ' she is survived by the two son, and five grandchildren. She departed this life on May 21. 1971. after a long illness. , , Mattie was very faithful to attend Sunday School, and meetines for worship, even after dwlininc health. Just a short while before the end of her life he reouested that flowers be placed in the. church, when by schedule, it was her Sunday to render this service. She was faithful to Visit the sirk in her community. An elder rv woman whom she alwavs remembered on her birthday, by Mattie's request was still remembered with flower arrangement, although at that time Mattie was near death's door. Mattie loved flowers as was shown bv the beautiful azaleas and other plants and shrubs around and in her home. In general, she loved the beautiful She was Kitted in aowg "Fanev Work". Her fingers were ever nimble in making nrettv articles for her house. and for gifts for others. She was a faithful, and loving wife, and mother. Truly it can be said of her, as in Proverbs, 31st chapter, "Her Children arise up and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praiseth Her influence will be felt for many years to come.
