HOSPITAL

from Memorial Hospital,
where he underwent
treatment for several days
last week.

needs of , farmers in this
area," according to L. Gary
Taylor, Vice President of
the association.
v "Implementation of new
policies and innovations has
enabled the Land Bank
Association to more ef
fectively serve farmers with
new and improved services
with greater flexibility,"
explains Mr. Taylor.
"In completing another
outstanding year in service
to farmers, the Ahoskie
Association had 864 loans
outstanding to farmers,
growers and ranchers in the
amount'of $16 million at the
end of the year," Mr. Taylor
said.
The association is one of
46 farmer-owned Land Bank
Associations which make
and service Land Bank
loans for The Federal Land
Bank of Columbia in North
Carolina, South Carolina,
Georgia and Florida the
four states served by the
Bank.
R. A. Darr, President of
the Columbia Bank,
reported that the Bank now
has over 48,000 loans to
farmers, growers, ranchers
and rural homeowners in
the four state district in the

Perdue Farms is headquartered in Salisbury, Maryland, and
is currently contract producing broilers and hatching eggs
with 800 farmers in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and
North Carolina.
Three hundred 16,000 capacity broiler houses will be
required here in Northeast North Carolina to supply a
12,000 birdhour poultry processing plant which will begin
being constructed in the fall of 74. Construction will begin
this spring on a feed mill to be located near Cofield,
North Carolina.
On Saturday, February 16th, a
Perdue broiler house can be seen
on the Tim Parker Farm near
Gates, N.C. Just travel north
from Ahoskie on Highway 13 and
go Mi miles past the Chowan
River Bridge. Turn left at Raynor's
Store & the farm will be on your
right. The house will be open for
your inspection between 10 a.m.
and 4 p.m. Rex Thompson and
Jim Smallwood will be present to
explain the Perdue Contract.
