ACTIVE COUPLE Anna and Paul Smith, Jr. take a moment out of their busy routine to share an article in a farm magazine. I The Smiths Are Active In Farm And Community Paul Smith, Jr. and his i wife Anna are an active young farm family of Perquimans County. The young couple lives in Winfall and have ' been members of the Perquimans County Young Farmers & Ranches organization for two years. Paul serves as vice president this year. Paul is in charge of con tacting businesses who may wish to include an exhibit. Paul explained the pur pose of the young Farmers . & Ranchers organization. He said he is for farmers under 30. The organization is a committee of the Farm Bureau. The purpose of the festival is to build a better un derstanding between towns people and rural folk. Anna added, "farming has become an expensive hobby." The Young Farmers & Ranchers Association is not the only organization which keeps Paul busy. He is vice president of the Parksville Ruritan Club, member of the Winfall volunteer fire department. Paul also enjoyes hunting, boating, fishing, skiing, and the couple camp. An asset to the county, it is i a pleasure to feature the Smiths. SPECIAL CROPS North Carolina grows about 175,000 to 185,000 acres of horticultural crops, including every thing from apples to out door flowers.
