Department of " Natural find Economic Resources , vjmd N.C. Coastal Resources Commission Chairman -Thomas Eure announced Thursday appointment of he Coastal Resources Advisory Council. Two Hertford residents were among those appointed. ( The Council is authorized )y section ofUhe Coastal Area 'Management Act passed by the 1974 General Assembly. It consists of represen tatives of state and local government officials ap pointed by the Coastal Resources Commission and f,tate and local government. ; According to the statute, the Advisory Council assists the Secretary of Ad ministration and Natural and Economic Resources in an advisory capacity on matters which may be submitted to it by secretaries , or the Coastal ' Christmas MailingDates l The Hertford Post Office reminds the public that , Christmas mailing deadlines soon go into ef fect. ; This is necessary because Nov. 1 is the deadline for surface and SAM (space available mail) to Armed Forces in the Near East. SAM and PAL are two Special ways to get the mail overseas. PAL. (parcel air lift) mail may be 60 inches in length and girth and weigh up to 30 pounds. This will cost $1 plus regular surface rates SAM mail may be 60 inches in length and girth and way up to 15 pounds. This goes at regular surface rates. - Deadline for mailing surface parcels within the United States to assure delivery is Dec. 10. Greeting cards within the U.S., in cluding Alaska and Hawaii, should be mailed no later than Dec. 15. Jones today announced that 21 members of the Highway Patrol completed a two-week training course for traffic safety information officers. Attending the training program was the coor dinator of the new patrol unit, dhe traffic safety in formation sergeant from each troop and 12 troopers from throughout the state. Trooper C.H. The training course included instruction in public speaking, law, use of statistical data and other subjects taught by representatives from the department of community colleges, state government and the highway patrol. Tucker has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Clorax Company in Oakland, Calif. In March, 1973, Tucker became Group Vice-President-Technical and Manufacturing Services at Clorax., ' r Tucker Is Elected To Clorax Board Donald W. Tucker, a Hertford native, has been elected to the Board of Directors of The Clorox Company. Tucker is Group Vice President-Technical and Manufacturing Services at Clorox, a position he assumed in March 1973. A graduate of Duke. Univer sity, he joined Clorox in 1956 as a chemist at the com pany's Charlotte, North Carolina, plant. He later managed production facilities in Kansas City, Kansas, and Cleveland, apprising the public of the patrol's role in traffic safety. They will also be presenting bicycle and pedestrian safety programs in the school system. He also stated that two additional schools will be held in the near future so that there would be a trained traffic safety information specialist in each patrol district. . tin m& F I Ohio, prior to being named Manager of Manufacturing Services in 1966. Three years later, Tucker became Manager of Research and Development, a position he held until his election as Vice President-Research and Development in June 1970. In the latter post he assumed overall respon sibility for all reasearch and development staff functions for The Clorox Company and its subsidiaries. A resident ef Dublin, California, the new Clorox director is also active in civic and professional af fairs. He presently serves as a director of the Oakland Chamber of Commerce as well as on the Household Division Steering Com mittee of the Soap and Detergent Association, and the East Oakland Task Force of the New Oakland Committee, a coalition of leaders in Oakland's business, labor and minority communities. High School will begin tomorrow at 4 p.m. The parade par ticipants will meet and line up at the high school at 3:30 p.m. The parade route will then go down Dobb Street, along Church Street, down Grubb Street, and make its way back to- the High School -along Hertford-, Edenton Highway, Hertford Mayor Bill Cox and Lester . Simpson, chairman , of the- county commissioners will be the parade, along m with Perquimans County's favorite son, Jimmy "Catfish" Hunter. The ,. Perquimans County Mar-; ching Unit will lead off the ; parade, followed by floats and other units and bands. ; Hertford Police Chief Ben Gibbs will be in charge of parade control and will escort the units. Featured in the parade will be the homecoming queen contestants. The finalists that have been chosen include Cathy Evans, Paula Perry, Sue Green Annette Hurdle, Jannette Hurdle, and Olga '. Simpson. Of the finalist, two queens will be crowned at the halftime of tomorrow night's game against Gates. The homecoming clelebration will not end with the parade and' the crowning of the queens. Prior to the game, tickets to a barbeque supper to be held at Perquimans High School cafeteria will be sold. Plates , can be picked up between 5 ' and 7:30 p.m. ; After the homecoming football game, a homecoming semi-formal dance will be held in the high school gym. Live music ' will be provided by "Grok." Throughout the week, ' students at the high school are celebrating homecoming with various " dress styles, Thies included Tramp Day and School Colors Day and a touch of anything goes.
