Workshop Held
GREENVILLE - Sixty
four public health aides
from 23 North Carolina
health departments par
ticipated in a workshop on
communication and in
terviewing skills at East
Carolina University
recant ly.
IThe workshop was
sponsored by the ECU
Human Resource Training
Institute and the Pitt County
Health Department. It
consisted of two sections:
instruction by Human
Resources personnel and
practicing of com
munication skills by the
participants in small group
settings.
According to Patricia
Gar ton of the ECU Institue,
the workshop was developed
as a result of a survey of
public health aides and
nurse supervisors con
cerning their specific
training needs.
All workshop events were
held in the new ECU
Regional Development
Institue buildings.
Participating from the
Pasquotank, Perquimans,
Camden and Chowan
District Health Department,
Elizabeth City were Hazel
Alexander jDoris Etheridge,
Norma Hall and Celea
Jones.
