Marching Unit
Is On The Move
"'Tis the season to be
jolly", and (he Perquimans
County Marching Unit has
been helping to make it so
by representing
Perquimans County in
various Christmas parades.
' The first of the seven
parades was held in Windsor
on November 23; a parade
the Perquimans unit was
honored to lead. On
Thanksgiving Saturday,
November 30, the unit
journeyed to Williamston to
participate in the yuletide
celebration.
. The Marching Unit is
experiencing a full week this
week. The girls have
strutted through three towns
as of today, and will march
in one this afternoon, and of
course in Hertford's parade
tomorrow.
Monday, the girls ven
tured to Murfreesboro for a
windy 4 p.m. affair. The unit
performed well in spite of
low temperatures and windy

(ireenville the next day for
another chilling adventure.
Klizabeth City held their
parade at 6:30 p.m. Wed
nesday which provided a
new experience for many of
the girls. This afternoon, the
familiar bus will be
traveling down Highway 17
to transport the unit to
Edenton for their holiday
show. Finally, the Marching
Unit will top off its long
week by performing for its
native folk; Friday af
ternoon the girl$ will again
be seen marching down
Church Street in Hertford.
Besides parades, the Unit
will also serve dinner and
provide entertainment for
the Perquimans County
Horse and Pony Club on
December 10.
As you can see the
Perquimans County Mar
ching Unit is still working
hard to represent
Perquimans County

his 6th birthday
Thanksgiving Day. He is the

Outstanding Ed
Mrs. Anna Bair has been
selected by the faculty and
staff to be College of the
Albemarle's entry in the
1975 edition of "Outstanding
Educators of America."
This is the second time the
chairman of the fine arts
department has been chosen
for the honor.
Mrs. Bair's selection by
her colleagues was based on
her achievements in the
field of fine arts, service to

The Cypress Group of the
Sierra Club announces a
meeting open to the public.
The meeting will take place
on Monday evening,
I lecember 9, at 8 p.m. at the
First Federal Building
located in (ireenville, on the
264 by -pass.
The Cypress group is

Harrell from New Bern, N.C.

Selma Evans left Thurs
day of last week and at
tended the music recital of
her daughter Miss Linda
Evans in Raleigh, N.C. Her
husband joined her and they
spent a week in Florida
visiting Disney World,
Silver Springs and many
more interesting places.

A graduate of Salem
College with a Bache
lor of Arts degree in
history and Bachelor of
Music degree in organ, Mrs.
Bair received a Master of
Arts degree in history from
DePaul University in
Chicago. She has done
graduate work at the
newly organized and in
cludes the majority of the
counties in Eastern North
Carolina. Its purpose is to
serve the people of the
Coastal Plains Region of
North Carolina by aiding in
i he protection of the natural
heritage of the Carolina
('nasi.
The Cypress group is
composed of interested
citizens from the Coastal
Plains Region, and mem
bership is open to all people
in the area. Future meetings
are planned in different
cities of the region and will
be announced at a later
dale.
