On the t'Sme level, Ray Ward was named one of the top Key Men II. tt .1 During the two banquets held Friday and Saturday night, the local club walked away with many plaques, a awards and certificates. Perhaps most outstandings the local chapter received . the Milestone Award which . recognizes the chapter judged the most outstanding during the first year of affiliation with the North Carolina Jaycees. ; The M Perquimans County Jaycee .. club also won several other awards too numerous to if. mention. But out of eleven . summary reports of the club's activities submitted for competition, the local M chapter won recognition in ' seven of the divisions.! Some of the projects sponsored during the past: 9i . year by the club which won them honors, were the 04. Christmas Parade, Youth Day, Operation Red Ball, (Continued from Page l)m CLASo"FlCS and the extension of an institutional Jaycee Chapter in Gates County known as the Pine Tree Jaycees. Totaled, the Jaycees won 21 awards. ' The Perquimans County jaycettes also won two honorable mention certificates at an awards lunchen held on Saturday. . The club was recognized for the help they gave the local Jaycees in the Operation Red Ball project and for their internal programs. The eight month old Jaycettes were under the leadership this year of their immediate past president Sallie Halsey. Sixteen couples represented the Perquimans County Jaycees at the convention. A group of approximately SO proud citizens ; of Perquimans County including Hertford Mayor Bill Cox and the Hertford Fifes and Drums, turned out Sunday night to "meet the returning Jaycees at the Harris Shopping Center Parking Lot But due to uncontrollable circumstances, the bus was late in arriving. HOTICOI AOMIN I ST RAT ION Meeting To Be Held OnPlanning Si A meeting will be held Tuesday, May 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building in Hertford to explain 201 Planning to all members of the units of government involved in the planning area which includes Hertford, Winf all and the county surrounding the two towns. Elects New Officers The Hertford BPW Club is, met for a business meeting u on Monday, May 12th. at the home . of Mrs. Roxanna i Jackson. The president, Miss Hulda Wood, called the c meeting to order by fell present praying the Club Collect in unison. lt Mrs. Jackson, chairman . of the nominating 'committee, called for nominations ' for the new O officers from the floor and . the following were elected to serve for 1975-76. President, Miss Suzanne Stanton, Vice president, Mrs. Essie Burbage, Secretary, Mrs. Billie Sloop (incumbent) Treasurer, Mrs. Addie White (incumbent). Miss Wood again reminded members of State Convention in Raleigh, June 6-8, and urged all who could to attend. Miss Wood will preside at the Banquet on Friday evening June 6th. All were reminded that yearly dues are payable at this time. The meeting adjourned early so members could attend a program on Restoration and Community Development given by Frank Stevenson of Murfreesboro at the REA building, and sponsored by the club. This program proved to be both interesting and informative. Mrs. Billie Sloop invited the club to meet with her on June 19th. Jurors Are Selected i ?.
