The Triangle Community Club (Tri-club) of Snug Har- bar met Wednesday for their annual Christmas lun cheon at the Club House. After the luncheon and ex change of gifts, the ladies decorated the club house and trimmed the Christmas tree for the Civic League Party which will be held Saturday night. This was the last meeting of the Tri-club for 1975. Meetings will resume after New Year's Day. Installation of officers for the new year took place last week by the Bethel Ruritan Club. The following elected officers were installed: Elliott Layden, President; Dewey Perry, Jr., Vice President; Mar q Gray, Secretary; George Sullivan, Treasurer; and, Linwood , Simmons, Trustee. The club .meets the 4th Thursday evening of each month at the -Bethel Community Building. . Robert Murray a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, N.C., returned home on Wednesday for the Christmas Holidays. Watkins last Wednesday was Mr. Watkin's brother, Prof. Ruppert Watkins, from the State College in Raleigh, N.C. Prof. Watkins resides in Clayton, N.C. The Ladies' Auxiliary of Bethel Volunteer Firemen will meet tonight (Thursday) for their annual Christmas Supper. Members will entertain their families at this gather ing which will take the form of a covered-dish supper and will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Fire Station. ? The Snug Harbor Civic League will hold its regular monthly meeting at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Club House. Weekend guests of the M.E. Nelsons, were Doctor Laura Morris and Ms. Nan-, cy Morris from Virginia Beach, Va. Entertainment included a bridge game Saturday night. Mrs. Elva Harrington and Mrs. Nelson made up the foursome. Goodman. Steve Anderson of Greece was a recent guest of his father, Mr. George Anderson, and his sister, Mrs. Lena Hourmouzis. This was their first meeting in 35 years. Waters of Arrowhead Beach, Chowan County, entertained at a Christmas Dinner on Sunday for their pastor, Dr. W.J.B. Liv ingston and his wife Sarah. Present, also, were Mr. and Mrs. M.E. November Traffic Deaths Were Down RALEIGH - Edward L. Powell, Commissioner of Motor Vehicles, announced today that traffic deaths in November of 1975 were down 19 per cent from November 1974. Shown above is cameraman Bill Lovin, and working the microphone with third grade students is Bob Kara. In this classroom, students were filmed while reading and performing word pronunciations. Various areas of the school building were also filmed and will be used in training sessions by the state department as an example of an older building that is well maintained and utilized. Segments of the film may also be used for 1 commercial purposes or on educational television. The reaction of the students was unanimous, "Hey, we're going to be on t.v.!" (Newbern photo) of the North Carolina Divi sion of Motor Vehicles, revealed that 102 persons lost their lives in November 1975 compared to 126 highway deaths in November of last year. To date this year North Carolina has 1327 traffic deaths compared to 1,446 fatalities for the same period of 1974, a decline of 8 percent. Powell said the fatalities for November include 22 deaths during the long Thanksgiving holiday and represent a significant dif ference in the lowering of our highway death rate. Oc tober deaths were down 34 per cent last year. Powell stated that during this Holiday Season special cau tion should be exercised, particularly on the - in terstate highways where ac cidents in November were up 34 per cent over last year. . Civic organizations, private Industry, church related groups, community action agencies are all requested to lend support. Additional volunteers are needed to assist . in informational meetings, to inform people of eligibility, to provide transportation, and to assist In numerous other ways. Mrs. Willie 0. Harvey has been designated as coor dinator for the outreach , campaign in Perquimans County. Mrs. Harvey can be contacted at the Per quimans County Economic Resource Center in Hertford ' or by calling 426-7868. The food stamp program is designed to provide an adequate diet to families by extending food purchasing power.
