Injuries from Bunk Beds have resulted in hospital emergency room treatment, and that a percentage of in juries were serious enough to result in hospitalization. The National Electronic In jury Surveillance System released the following sampling ending Dec. 31, 1975: ' 657 bunk bed associated injuries treated in hospital emergency rooms. Lacerations ac counted for 35 percent of the injuries, which occurred mostly to the head and face. Contusions and abrasions were the next most common diagnosis, representing 30 percent of the total. Frac tures, mostly of the arm and hand, made up 16 percent of the injuries. Strains and sprains accounted for 8 per cent, and were mostly of the leg and foot. Hermatoma and concussion together represented 4 percent of bunk bed injuries. Other in juries accounted for the remaining 7 percent. Notably, bunk beds are common problem such as summer camps, in college . dorms, and in children's bedrooms. .
