will assume the summer 8
o'clock a.m. to 5 o'clock
p.m. schedule beginning
Monday, June 7 and will
continue through Aug. 27,
1976.
Injuries from Bunk Beds
have resulted in hospital
emergency room treatment,
and that a percentage of in
juries were serious enough
to result in hospitalization.
The National Electronic In
jury Surveillance System
released the following
sampling ending Dec. 31,
1975: ' 657 bunk bed
associated injuries treated
in hospital emergency
rooms. Lacerations ac
counted for 35 percent of the
injuries, which occurred
mostly to the head and face.
Contusions and abrasions
were the next most common
diagnosis, representing 30
percent of the total. Frac
tures, mostly of the arm and
hand, made up 16 percent of
the injuries. Strains and
sprains accounted for 8 per
cent, and were mostly of the
leg and foot. Hermatoma
and concussion together
represented 4 percent of
bunk bed injuries. Other in
juries accounted for the
remaining 7 percent.
Notably, bunk beds are
common problem such as
summer camps, in college
. dorms, and in children's
bedrooms.

The U.S. Consumer Pro
duct Safety Commission
reminds adults and children
to use care around swim
ming pools and related
equipment. An estimated
56,000 persons ; required
hospital emergency room
treatment , for injuries
associated with swimming
pools, pool slides, and diving
( boards, last year. The Com-

Use non-slip materials on
deck surrounding pool -and
on diving boards and lad
ders; Have the electrical
systems installed by
licensed electricians and in
accordance with recognized
standards for safety; Fence
in your pool area to prevent
access to unsupervised
children; Place a' safety

slope begins to deepen;
