Letters to the editor Readers comment on fire reaction TO THE EDITOR: We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the many people we are greatly indebted to for their assistance to us during the recent Winslow Oil Company fire. We cannot name here all those who provided help in evacuating us from our home and who provided shelter and comfort to us. To the firemen and all the volunteers who worked so hard, we offer our praise and sincere appreciation to their dedication to the community. Once again, the people of Hertford and Perquimans County have proven that this is indeed a place of "dear hearts and gentle people." MARGARET & JOE HENRY BAGLEY 128 Grubb Street Hertford, N.C. TO THE EDITOR: As a citizen and a youth of this town I would like to thank all the people that helped in any way when Winslow Oil Co. was destroyed by fire. If it had not been for you and God a lot of homes and lives could have been lost. I know that God helped us then and people helped each other. That's one thing I like about this town, there is always someone there when you need them. I would also like to thank all of the people from other towns that came to help.
