The Recreation Department will iponaor
an Easter Egg Hunt for all children, 10
year* old and younger, on Friday morning,
March 24. The hunt will be held behind the
Hertford Grammar School beginning at
10:30 a.m. All eligible children are invited
to participate. Rain date will be Saturday
morning, March 25, tame place, same
time.
Congratulations to the girls who played
in the basketball league. Although the win
column was small, the valuable ex
perience gained by the girls was very big.
Softball is next on the schedule for the
glrU It is set to b<fcn the Utter part of

Adult basketball is still continuing on
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights
at the Union School gym in Winfall. Games !
are at 7, 8 and 9 p.m. Spectators are

The league decided to
sponsor a Pitch, Hit, and
Run Contest (similar to
Punt, Pass, and Kick) for 1
the 13-15 year olds on the 1
first Saturday in April. The
boys will also sign up that
day for the league with
practice starting in April.
The fee for each boy will be
|5. A smiliar event will be
held for the 16-18 year olds
in April also.
Several other items of
business were discussed in
cluding the recruitment of
assistant coaches and
helpers. Anyone interested
in helping with a team
should contact the Recrea
tion Department in Hert
ford. Help is also needed for
the 6, 7, and I year old boys'
league and girls' softball
league.
The next meeting is
scheduled for the fhiddle of
April.
Adult basketball results
The following are results
of adult basketball play last
week sponsored by the Per
quimans Recreation and
Parks Department:
Woodard's added one in
the win column over Com
munity Gas by a 52-44
score. Top scorers for
Woodard's were C. Rogers
with IS and C.J. Stallings
with IS. A. White led Com
munity Gas with 11 points.
The Golddiggers forfeited
to the All-Stars.
The 76'ers defeated the
Hornets, 67-54. L. Felton
had 16 and H. Jackson had
14 for the winners. B.
Lowden had 14 points for
the Hornets.
Community Gas rallied
back with a victory, 66-57
over the Hornets. A. White
scored 19 (or Community
Gas and J. White shot 13 for
theSornets.
Woodard's experienced a
second win, 54-45, over the
Golddiggers. B. Stallings
had 16 points and C. Rogers
had 17 points for the vic
tors. K. Williams was top
scorer with 13 points for the
Golddiggers.
The All-Stars won a close
game. 6S43 over Pioneer
Seed. T. Parker shot 21
followed by J. Whitehurst
with 14 for the All-Stars. R.
Lassiter rallied a high 35
points for Pioneer Seed.
The 76'ers also enjoyed a
second victory last week,
defeating the Warhawks,

league ends this week.
The Light Blue team
from Edenton has clinched
first place with a perfect 7-0
record. In second place is
the Big Blue team from
Edenton with a 6-1 record. ?
The three Perquimans
teams, although on the
short end of most of the
scores, have gained ex
perience and will be ready
when next year rolls
around.
