The summer program is going real
well. We have about 30 children in our
arts and crafts program, and around 20
in the T-ball program.
Girls' ""softball has three teams with
around 17 girls on a team. They play on
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and
are in a league with the Edenton girls'
teams.
Babe Ruth Baseball will take its All
Star break for the next two weeks with
the local All-Stars traveling to Manteo
for the District Tournament July 5-8.
The 16-18 year old All-Stars will host the
Area G Tournament in Edenton July
12-15.
Adult Softball will take a break next
week, then come back and finish the
regular season during the second and
third weeks of July. Make your plans
now to enjoy the action.
We regret that we were not able to
sponsor swimming lessons this summer.
After two months of writing, calling, and
talking, we were unable to find a cer
tified instructor. For those of you who'
came by or called, thank you so much for
your interest in the program, and we
urge you to inquire next year. We would
also like to add that there are swimming
lessons begin taught at Sandy Point
Beach on a private basis for those of you
who are still interested in putting your
child into this program.
See ya next week.
GIRLS' SOFTBALL UNDERWAY -
One of the many summer programs be
ing offered by the Perquimans Recrea
tion and Parks Department is a Softball
league for girls, action which recently
got underway locally. Above, two deter
mined young batters participate in the
program. Three local teams have been
organised for girls ages 9-12 and 13-15.
The league includes teams from Eden
ton. (Staff photos by Paige Eure)
