? ??.?r > .> \ Perquimans celebrates July 4th VISITING DANCERS - Spectators at the annual horse show were given a special intermission treat July 4th when the Colonial Squares of Edenton did some fancy footwork. FESTIVE AIR ? The early evening in cluded some activities sponsored by the Perquimans County Jaycees in the high school ballpark. Above, some of the younger set exemplify the festive, holiday air. FOOD, FRIENDS AND FELLOWSHIP ? Community people gathered at the high school ballpark to enjoy fish plates and some conversation with friends as they waited for the evening activities to get underway. Most anxiously awaited the ever entertaining fireworks display. 1 HOMETOWN FISH FRY - And what would any community gathering be without a community supper. The Jaycees provided fish for the many pre sent using the proceeds to help on the ex* pense of the fireworks which were also contributed to by local businesses and other civic clubs. could easily THIS IS FUN? - That be the reaction of participant Pat Riddkk who found the first "Anything Goes" event a little on the wet side. I ANNUAL HORSE SHOW ? Some county residents spent part of the day at the annual holiday horse show sponsored by the Perquimans County Horse and Pony Qub. Shown above is a participant in the open balloon race, one of 27 exciting events offered to the crowd. YOUNG 'N CELEBRATIN' - Michael Stallines was just one of the many youngsters to turn out for the Jaycees' July Fourth Celebration. The Jaycettes and Hertford PTA offered many opportunities for the kid dies to win prizes and fill up on such goodies as homemade ice cream and watermelon. BIG SPLASH! - The "Anything Goes" activities, also sponsored by the Jaycees, proved to be a crowd pleaser as did this stunt performed by Kathy Newbern, one d the participants. HOLIDAY MESSAGE - Included in the holiday the local Jaycees was a HERE BOY ? Another event in the "Anything Goes" presentation was a kick the football game which required a 1 little guidance. SLIPPERY RASCAL - A special highlight of the "Anything Goes" events was a surprise even to the contestants as they were instructed to catch a greased pig.
