"We are going to continue to give the county good government at a reasonable price, in other words, keep taxes down. In old business, the board decided to make a bid to the owners of the old J.C. Blanchard Building to buy the structure for $55,000. The board hopes to split the cost into two payments, one at the first of the year and another sometime into the year, if the owners are willing. By EDGAR ROBERSON, 1978 PARADE CHAIRMAN December 2 was a beautiful warm day; perfect weather for a parade. There were 44 units in the lineup. As for the floats, they were all winners, as they all showed the efforts of long hard hours of work and dedication. We, as the Jaycees and the Chamber of Commerce have you, the entries to thank for such a fine parade, that truly demonstrated "The Real Meaning of Christmas." The smiles and happiness on the faces of the children, both young and old, made the efforts as chairman of the Christmas parade, and the efforts of those involved more meaningful. We again thank all those who par ticipated. We hope somehow that we provided a special memory for your 1978 Christmas. Many thanks are also due to peo ple in the community for their help in the parade: Chamber of Com merce, with a special thanks to Nan Reynolds for her added efforts; Blanchard Lawn and Garden, for the (See Parade, page 7) Christmas Ramble planned in Perquimans "Christmas in the Country ? 1978 Ramble" sponsored by the Per quimans County Extension Home makers will feature homes of Mr. and Mrs. J.F.
