Perquimans People Local youth to represent Perquimans at Resource Conservation W orkshop Perry Chappell, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wray Chappell of Route 3, Hertford, and Nicky Nixon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Nixon, Route 1, Hertford are representing Perquimans County at the Resource Conservation Workshop being held this week at N. C. State University in Raleigh. The workshop is held each year for high school graduates, rising juniors and seniors, to develop the potential to more keenly appreciate the value of conservation of our natural resource*. The course is designed to stimulate interested young people to pursue conservation careers, to practice good conservation measures, or to become staunch advocates of con servation. The group will study various subjects pertinent to resource con servation including soils, land use, watershed protection and management, soil and water con servation research and forest management and protection. There will also be studies on wildlife and fisheries management, erosion and sediment control, on-site waster disposals, and land ap plication of municipal wastes and water management. The event is sponsored each year by the N. C. Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts, the N. C. Chapter of the Soil Conservation Society of America, and the N. C. Soil and Water Conservation Com mission. All of this is done in cooperation with the Soil Science Department and Division of continuing Education at N. C. State University. Perry and Nicky are sponsored by the Perquimans County Soil and Water Committee, Floyd Mathews, Elmer Lassister and Carroll Williams. Tucker on Sunday. Mr. William Hunter of Winston Salem was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bass and Miss Jo Hunter during the weekend. Jerry Sullivan of Richmond, Va. spent the weekend with hit parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Sullivan. Mr. and Mrs. George Clarke of Petersburg, Va. were guests of Mrs. J. E. Morris on Sunday. ' Katherine and Charlie Cellebrezze of Columbus, Ohio are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Winslow and Miss Thelma Elliott this week. Miss Shawna Bass of Virginia Beach, Va. is spending this week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy White. Mrs. Jean White and son, Reggie, returned home Saturday after a 10 day visit in Hollywood, Calif., with Mr. and Mrs. David White. Mr. and Mrs. Don Roberts and family of Virginia Beach, Va. were guests of Mr. and Mrs. N. W. Chapppell of Belvidere on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Symons spent last week at Acapulco, Mexico. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fogle of Little Rock, Ark. were guests of Mrs. Phillip Thach on Thursday of last week. C., spent Tuesday with Mrs. G. A. White and Willard Baker in Hertford.
