Interdenominational Sunday School lesson *l anat:, 11 God of Creation Om. 1:1; Paala i?:lA Acts 1T:M-M; Imum 1 :X> r "The Heaven* declare the Glory of 'God; and the firmament Hla han diwork." (Psalm 11:1) Thus spoke the psalmist David as he considered the wonders of God. If the things we make tell something about us. then the things God made tell something about Him. > He splashed boundless space with galaxies, millions of them, some so far away that it takes centuries for their light to reach us. The more we learn of them, the more we know of the splendor and magnificence of the creator. No less impressive is God's at tention to tiny things. He knows every sparrow, every hair on a human bead. He knows even the very thoughts in esch person's mind and moreover, He is concerned about him. He knows each tiny particle that goes into the making of an atom. God not only keeps track of each star, He keeps track of every particle in all the millions of galaxies with billions of suns and multiple trillions of lesser spheres. To thoae who have ears to hear, creation ahouts of the Creator. He is the God of infinite space, and also, the God of all human kind. To say that the creation, the magnitude of it all, the intricacy that perpetuates it; to say that it hap pened somehow, by chance, or with a big bang, is an invention of minds that do not really think. Creation t Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth." Mr. Orin Root, writing for the Standard Publishing Co., makes some in teresting observations concerning the creation. "In the search for the origin and purpose of the things that are, human wisdom is like s blind man in a dark cellar, looking for a black cat, that isn't there. Creation lies all about us, vlsable and tangible. We are part of H." "Creation indeed does tell us much about God ? but not unless we acknowledge that he is the creator. If we are blind to that basic fact, we are blind, also, to what creation is and what it is for." Proclamation Psalm David, the Psalmist, proclaimed the majesty of creation and the Creator. He sang and wrote God's word. Even without a telescope, David could see enough to show that the creator of the heavenly bodies must be glorious beyond compare. Can we see God's glory no less plainly? I enjoy rekindl ing old friendships and making new friends. There Is one who never takes a vacotion and never will. He con stantly tempts us. desiring us to be in sin like himself. Satan is always on the job. Jesus was also tempted. However he did not yield to temptation. He used God's word to resist Satan's temptations. God's word Is a fortress. Each time Jesus was tempted. (Matt. 4) He turned Sot on away with, "It I* written," Take a few minute* before bedtime or before your work day begins ?o fortify yourself with God's word. "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (J Tim. I cried a tear for you today, thinking of the things we used to do and say. like when we were little and went out to play, and you WOUiii my don't go too far away." But now that you are gone it's hard to believe we could carry on. Although the pain gets less as the days go on, that doesn't mean the memories are gone, They are dearer now than they were back then. So. as I cry my tears for you today, it really doesn't seem like you've gone away, but that you're sitting right by my side saying "Baby, please don't cry be cause my love for you will never die." Wife and Children &vicU Perhaps you made a pleasant telephone call, Or came and just sat quietly in a chair. Perhaps you sent lovely flowers, If so, we saw them there. Perhaps you sent or spoke comforting words. Or helped us to pray; Perhaps you were not there at all, Just thought of us that day. Perhaps you prepared some tasty food, Or maybe furnished a car; Perhaps you rendered a service unseen, Right here or from afar. Whatever you d i d to console our hearts, We thank you sincerely - Whatever the part. I Would like to thank everyone who remem bered me with cards, gifts, visits, and most of all your prayers while I was a patient in Albe marle Hospital and since my return home. May God bless you all. The family of the late Washington V. Lyons Sr. would like to thank everyone who remem bered us in this time of sorrow. Thank you for the flowers, visits, cards and most of all for your prayers. Your kindness will The Family of Nancy Angelia Overton , Blanche Goodwin Lyons Famify forgotten. Thank you, William J. "Little Joe" StolMngs us move* us forward in time roughly a thousand years ? to the first century A.D. ? and to Apostle Paul, the preacher, as be spoke to a group of philosophers of Athens. The place was called ^ars Hill. Some said that Paul, like any good teacher, led his hearers from what they knew to what they didn't know. In their city was an altar dedicated to an unknown God. The citizens had adequately taken care of their known gods which were many, this altar was for the God that they did not know. Paul proceeded to tell them about the God unknown to them, the one and only real God. Verse 24 was his starting point; "God that made the world and all things therein." God made everything. Once this truth is accepted, other truths about God are easily accepted. Responsibility Romans 1:30 The final verse of the scripture lesson for today gives us the Apostle Paul once again, but this time as a writer. ^ He i> writing to people in the church at Rome; and, in hia par ticular style when writing or teaching, be began with the baaica and moved forward. Paul ctatea it plainly, note, "For the invisible things of Him from the Creation of the world clearly seen. " What are these invisible things? Specifically, God's eternal power and Godhead, (Godhood) His divine nature. Thus Paul lays on us the responsibility of understanding the message of creation. We should be mindful of and grateful for their efforts ? and honor them along with present workers on this Labor Day.
