COMMUNITY Community Calendar BBQ Supper Slated There will be a barbecue supper, Saturday, June 16th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Woodville at the Intercounty Volunteer Fire Department. Plates will sell for 3.50. Proceeds will go to benefit the fire department. Over 40 Exercise Class The Perquimans County Senior Center and Recreation Depart ment are sponsoring an exercise class especially designed for peo ple over 40 years of age. The classes are taught, Monday and Thursday mornings, 9:00-10:00 at the Senior Center. Class registra tion fee is $8.00 per person which includes 12 classes. The instructor for the class is Nancy Street. For more information or to register, call the Senior Center at 426-5404. Class size is limited, so call NOW. ECSU hosts Sickle Cell Screening The Elizabeth City State University Health Careers Club will be hosting a Sickle Cell Screening Seminar, tonight, Thursday, June 14, at the ECSU Infirmary beginning at 6:00 p.m. Guest speakers are Mr. George Cherry, Program Director of the North Carolina Sickle Cell Program and Mrs. Zaneta Spellman, R.N., of PPCC District Health Department's Northeastern Division for Human Development. The public is cordially invited to attend this infor mative seminar and screening session. Extension Service Workshop Have you ever used a Roman Shade? Lamb Smith of Belvidere, NC was honored on her 90th birthday by a dinner celebration at Pine Lakes Country Club, Elizabeth City, NC. The dinner was hosted by her children: Edna Smith Kendall, Thomas Elwood Smith, Polly Smith Grimes, Paul Smith and Bob Smith. There were 100 guests ranging in ages from 23 months to 98 years. The bride's veil fell from a ring of white flowers and she carried a white Bible topped by white orchids. 1 Her attendants wore dusty rose off-the-sboulder gowns and carried white lace fans with pink and white flowers. Satan Ross of New Smyrna Beach, bridesmaid; and Margie Eno, niece of the bride, Junor bridesmaid. The flower girl and ringbearer were twin niece and nephew of the bride, Katie and Billy Eno. Best man was Michael Jones of Tallahassee, nephew of the bridegroom, and ushers were Michael and Patrick Stone, Willis Sims, all of Tallahassee. ' brothers and brothers-in-law of the bridegroom. The reception was held out-of doors at the hone of the bridegroom's sister and brother in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Sims. The pearls worn by the bride were those given by her father to her mother 37 years ago on their wedding day and the Bible she carried was carried by her mother on that day.
