The District School Committee met with the Board for the purpose of exchanging ideas and information of interest concerning the county schools. Supt. Biggers presented the teacher allotment for 1964-65. The report indicated the loss of five teachers. After much discussion concerning the allotment, the Supt. was authorized to contact the State Board of Education for an New officers slated for Jaycees - Jaycettes The Perquimans County Jaycees and Jaycettes have recently started their new year with Greg Biggs and Jeanie S. (Bobby) Elliott Hertford's Fire Chief, is in search of an old dwelling house, barn or out-building of no use, located two to three miles from Hertford city limits. Chief Elliott stated that the fireman's school now in session is in need of the old building for practice fire fighting to instruct new members of the local fire department, and Haskett speaks to seniors Recently, at the Perquimans County Senior Center, Mr. Keith Haskett, Perquimans County Emergency Management Coordinator, presented a very interesting and informative program on tornadoes, hurricanes and severe thunderstorms. Mr. Haskett explained the danger that could result from these weather conditions and the safety precautions that we should take when any of these weather conditions occur. He also distributed brochures and pamphlets regarding safety tips on all weather conditions, charts for charting hurricanes, and other valuable do's and don'ts for our safety. Mr. Haskett concluded his program by saying "Never take weather for granted, always be prepared."
