The Perquimans County High
School Chorus held their
annual Christmas
Presentation on Monday,
December 17 at the Cafeteria
in the High School, under the
direction of Carolyn Lavezzo.
The program consisted of
members performing solos
and duets along with medley
of tunes which was performed
by the entire members of the
Chorus.
Board of Education
these changes would be made in
the plans as soon as possible.
A Pre-Bid Conference is
scheduled to be held the early
part of January which the
contractors which would like to
place bids will be able to review
the plans and ask questions
concerning the work site.
"We are very pleased with the
plans at this point and hope to
have some kind of progress in the
near future," said Pat Harrell,
Superintendent of Perquimans
County Schools.
In other action the Board :
?Reviewed the bids of the
refrigerator/freezer project at
Perquimans Union School. A
total of three bids were
submitted and reviewed by the
Board members. By motion of
Clifford Towe and seconded by
Mack Nixon, the Board agreed to
accept the bid from United
Restaurant Equipment
Company. The construction will
begin as soon as possible.
?Accepted Mack Nixon as a
volunteer to serve on the Local
Steering Committee for the
School Board in the N. C.
Career Development Plan.
?Was informed by Pat Harrell
that a total of six representatives
from the Perquimans County
School System attended a
meeting held in Raleigh last
week. This meeting was to
familiarize the members of some
of the development that is now
taking place in the N. C. Carrer
Development Plan.
It was also noted that teachers
would need time to prepare for
the Carrer Ladder Program and
substitute teachers would be
needed in the future to cover for
these teachers. It was
commented that no money has
been funded for the pay of these
substitutes, but hopefully in the
near future, they will be allowed
funds for this purpose.
?Agreed to accept the
employment of Phillip Barnes,
7th grade Math Teacher and
Shriley Simpson, JTPA Job
Placement, effective January 2,
1985 by motion of Mack Nixon
and seconded by Clifford Towe.
?Discussed the Athletic Field
Lighting Project at Perquimans
High School. A quote from a
company that would be
interested in doing the project
was reviewed by Board
Members. The plan consists of 69
light fixtures and six 110-foot
metal poles. Further discussion
will be made at the next Board
meeting.
?Was made aware of the
Softball Field Project that is
almost completed at the High
School. It was noted by one of the
Board Members, that the
problems of trespassers has
already begun and that a fence
should be put up as soon as
possible to eliminate the
problem. It was decided to use
the wire that will come down
from the football field to put up
on the Softball field.
With no further business, the
Perquimans County Board of
Education went into Executive
Session.
