HASKETT Perquimans County Tax Supervisor scflQ^ Union highlights Students at Union are ap proaching the mid-point of the school year. Some in grades 7 and 8 will also be taking semes ter exams. It is essential at this time of the year for parents and teachers to assess the progress of each child. Conference Day is scheduled for January 20, 1966 from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. It is suggested that parents contact the school office (426-7355) and request a conference with the teacher(s) working with their child(ren). Several questions that could be considered are: (1) Is my child in danger of failing a subject area? (2) Is my child in danger of fail ing his-her grade? (3) Is my child a behavior problem? (4) Is my child actively participating in class discussions and activities? (5) What can I as a parent do to work with my child and his-her teachers to help in solving the problems at hand? Not only is this a time for par ents to visit the school for prob lem concerns but a time to check on the overall progress of their child(ren) in general. We all need to hear the encouraging news about our children as well as the comments about needed improvements. We look forward to a good sec ond semester. On the agenda book are intramural sports in volleyball and basketball, Spe cial Olympics, Make-up dance, Valentine Dance, Prom, field trips, Fun Day, Field Days, Stu dent-Faculty Softball Game, yearly CAT testing, etc. We are also encouraging any parent, community citizen, or relative to join Union's P.T.A. Help support the activities of our children.
