Circus Trip Planned

reation Dept. and Senior Center
it sponsoring a trip to Norfolk
Scope to see the Ringling Broth
ers and Barnam ft Bailey Circus
on Sat., March 1, 1986 at 11 a.m.
A bus will depart from the Cen
ter, (which is located at 300
Grubb Street), at 9 a.m.
After the circus they will stop
at Morrisons Cafeteria oo their
way home.
The cost of the trip is $13 per
person which includes bus trans
portation & circus ticket. Reser
vations must be made by Feb

Seniors Plan Exercise Class
The Perquimans County Senior
Center is sponsoring a free exer
cise class especially designed for
the older adult beginning in Feb
ruary. Classes will be taught on
Tuesday & Thursday mornings
10:00-11:00 a.m. beginning Feb
ruary 4 and will last 6 weeks. To

Quilters to Meet
The Perquimans' Quilters will
meet Monday January 27th be
ginning at 10:00 for those inter
ested in a tabard apron
workshop. The regular meeting
will begin at 2:00 p.m. It will be
held at the County Office Build
ing, and visitors are welcome.
Immunization Clinics Set
The first Thursday of every
month beginning March 6, 1966
local health departments will be
holding evening immunizations
clinics from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Homemade brownies chase away blahs '
Here are two new variations oil

Who can resist? These fudge
brownies are almost candy like
while the other version offers you
a brownie with a marsh ma low
layer along with a layer of icing.
Serve with a steaming cup of cof
fee or tea to keep away the Jan

FANTASTIC FUDGE BROW
NIES
4 cups sugar
1 cup flour
1 cup co^oa
8 eggs
1 lb. butter, melted
4 tablespoons vanilla
2 cups chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Sift flour, sugar and cocoa. Beat
eggs well and add dry ingre
dients, butter, vanilla and nuts.
Mix. Pour butter into a 3 quart
pan. Place the baking pan in a
larger pan containing water.
Bake 45-50 minutes. Cool in pan.
Brownies will get firmer as they
cool. Yeild 36 % inch squares

% cups plain flour
1 cup sugar
S teaspoon cocoa
1 cup chopped walnuts
miniature marshmallows
Cream butter and sugar. Add
eggs one at a time, beating after
each. Sift flour and cocoa and
blend in. Add chopped pecans
and mix well. Bake in greased
12x9x2 inch pan in a 350 degrees
for 20-25 minutes. When done,
sprinkle with marshmallows and
return to oven until marshmal
lows melt. Remove from oven
and ice.
ICING
1 box 10X sugar, sifted
3 tablespoons cocoa, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 stick melted butter
milk
Mix and add enough mild for
spreading consistency. Spread,
over brownies. Cool. Cut. *
