3 4-Hers learn ATV riding skills
The North Carolina Motorcycle
Dealers Association and the North
Carolina Department of Agriculture

day ATVenture Camp which wil edu
cate youths about the safe operation
of all terrain vehicles. The camp,
which runs from August 2-6, 1987, is
open to North Carolina youth ages 10
to 16, and membership in 4-H is not
required. Participants must provide
thier own vehicles and riding gear.

the environment. Participants wil be
involved inan intense hands-on train
ing program covering the safe opera
tion of an ATV, principles of small

others' property and the environ
ment, and alternative uses of ATVs.
Safety will be emphasized contin
uously.
"Recently there has been much ad
verse publicity regarding all terrain
vehicles in the popular news media.
It's important that the general public
realizes that the general public real
izes that the greatest contribution we
can make to safety with these vehi
cles is to educate the riders," says
John McCorquodale, coordinator of
the project for the association. "The
NCMDA is taking this opportunity to
assist the NCDA is establishing what
we hope will become a regular eent
for young riders who are interested
in learning about the safe operation
of all terrain vehicles."
The cost for the camp is $80.00, and
the deadline for registration for the
camp is July 17. Those interested in
