The recipients includ ed Derek Levesque Jr., Symiaya Leary, Hunt- er Scott, Chloe De Weese and Kevin Wall. Daughtery plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and major in nursing. Levesque plans to attend Pace University and major in parks and recreation tourism management. and community service. Levesque and fellow graduating senior Kaileigh Nixon also were recently awarded the $750 Kim Hunt er Daugherty Scholarship. The Kim Hunter Daugh erty scholarship is funded through an endowment es tablished in memory of Kim Daugherty, a Perquimans educator for more than two decades who was teach ing fifth grade at Hertford Grammar School at the time of her death. The scholar ship is available each year to a PCHS senior pursuing a career to help others. According to the founda tion, Nixon is a dual enrolled student who took classes at both PCHS and College of The Albemarle. She was active in the Beta Club and Interact Club and was an all-conference, all-district and all-state softball player for the Perquimans Lady Pirates. Technical Scholarships from the Perquimans County Schools Foundation. Nixon plans to attend the University of North Caro lina at Wilmington where she will mqjor in nursing. Her desire is to specialize in pediatrics so she can help address the medical needs of children. Levesque was also a dual enrolled student who took classes at both PCHS and COA. He was active in Beta, student government and the musical and perform ing arts. He was a member of the varsity swim team, soccer team and the PCHS Marching Band. Levesque plans to attend Pace University in New York to earn a degree in parks & recreation tourism management. The Hertford Lions Club also recently announced it had awarded $1,000 schol arships to four PCHS grad uating seniors. The recipients include A’Marion Hunter, who plans to attend the University of North Carolina Prembroke; Kaitlyn Votava, who plans to attend UNC- Wilmington; Mason Byrum, who plans to attend East Carolina Uni versity; and Trent Byrum, who also plans to attend ECU. “These are highly moti vated and talented students who have demonstrated exceptional academic po ¬ tential and a strong com mitment to enhance their personal and leadership po tential. They are exemplary students,” said PCHS Princi pal Mickey Drew. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR PROPOSED FY 2022-2023 BUDGET The proposed FY 2022-2023 Budget for Perqui mans County was submitted to the Perquimans County Board of Commissioners on June 6, 2022 and is available for public inspection at the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners’ Office in the Court- house, Hertford, North Carolina. A summary of the proposed budget is available on the County’s web- site at www.perquimanscountync.gov. A Public Hearing on the proposed Budget for FY 2022-2023 will be held on June 20, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room of the Perquimans County Library located at 514 S. Church Street, Hertford, NC.
