ERJOTEI BT SHOP EMPLOTEES
Gifts Presented to Mr.
Lewis. Mr. Ridenhour
The employees in the Machine
and Electrical Shops were enter
tained with a barbecue dinner
given at noon on December 21st.
This barbecue is an annual affair
given the Shop employees by Mr.
Lewis and Mr. Ridenhour as their
Christmas present to the men
who work (or thme. Due to the
nature of the work of the men
in these departments, which re
quires their constant employment
throughout the year, these occa
sions are keenly looked forward
to by each member as a time of
relaxation and closer fellowship.
About two-thirds of the men on
the Shop payroll were present to
enjoy the barbecue and soft
drinks served them. After the
dinner, Mr. Pegram, one of the
invited guests, presented both Mr.
Lewis and Mr. Ridenhour gifts of
their new license plates for the
new year from the Shop em
ployees. Other invited guests in
cluded Rev. G. L. Royster, who
returned thanks, and Mr. James
and his nephew, Richard James.
After attending one of these
dinners,, which is always enjoyed
by those attending, one cannot
help but realize that the Christ
mas spirit prevails, and each one
looks forward from year to year
to being able to attend the next
dinner given.

New Year's
Message Fran
Management
By E. M. HOLT, Mgr.

THE CHATTER in the year 1947.
The happiness manifested in the
New Year celebration is based on
the fact that a New Year is grant
ed us that has at its beginning
no- regrets and no black marks,
but rather it is marked by hope.
Everyone's idea is to transmit
these hopes into actual satisfac
tory facts during the year.
It is a fact that human beings
do not change substantially over
any short period of time. There
fore, unless special attention and
special effort is exercised by each
of us, 1947 will not be much dif
ferent than 1946. Yet all of us
want it different in many respects.
At the beginning of this year
there are three things all of us
can do. First, look backward and
pick out those things in our past
that we do not like, and also pick
out those things we DO like ami
wish to emphasize. Secondly, we
can look forward, look forward
with the intention of giving
prominence to those things in
