series, “Upstairs Downstairs,”

in the Jan. 31, Xerox special “The Autobiography of Miss Jane
Pittmann.” Based on a book by Ernest J, Gaines, the story will
trace the life, joys and sorrows of a former slave who lives to
participate in the civil rights movement. At 110 years of age, the
fictional life of Miss Jane Pittman spans a century of change for
