Elect i SADIE’S CORNER I • (Tips To The Ladies) ‘ I hope that during the Democratic Convention, the majority of the American Black women took time to watch their television sets. If ever there was a time to be proud of being black this was the time. 1 think that even though the number of Black representation was not great, it was still a good showing that more and more Black women are taking a part in politics. The speech of Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, of Texas, made me feel extra proud of being a woman and a Black person. It is truly commendable to see her attain ment of respect and her part of history in the making of our country. I feel that we as Black women are moving forward and the Black women in our city should strive more to gain their proper place in our society. If any Black woman has any doubts of what can be achieved in our world today, I say to her take a good look and a long look at the Congresswoman from Texas.
