Last year a GI wedding took place, an idea worthy of the great Barnum, and this year that GI and his wife were invited back and presented with a gift in a large crate, being required to say, "We shall use this gift," and when the gift bore, was opened, it was a child's high chair. So far, the GI couple are childless. L .R. Russell has founded an institution for interracial fel'owship and good will, which will go on and perpetuate his memory for many years and for generations. COOt* Bit Funeral rites for Dr. Charles Logan Cooper. 49, who died Tuesday at his home, 1021 Lindsay street, were heid Friday, May 23, at St. James Presbyterian church, at 3 p. in. The pastor, Rev. J. T. Douglas, olTieiuted. A native of Harrisburg, Pa., Dr. Cooper was educated at Hampton Institute, Va., and Cornell University. He received the H. S. degree at Hampton in 1924, the M. S. degree in 1926, I and the Ph. D. degree in 193 5, both from Cornell University. Coining to Greensboro in 1926, Dr: Cooper was city sehool supervisor in industrial education. He later accepted a professorship in the industrial arts department at A .and T. college. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mamie Rogei'3 Cooper; two sisters. Misses llarv ami Jonnlo Cooper, of Harrisburg, and four brothers, Porter Cooper, of Philadelphia, Harry Cooper, of Trenton, N. J., and Ross and William I Cooper, both of Harrisburg. Interment was in Maplewood I cemetery. HIGHLY ESTEEMED I CITIZEN HIES Mrs. Mary Ann Lloyd, an esteemed citizen of ureensboro, entered the eternal rest Thursday 'morning, Ma/ 22. at her home, 603 Watson street. Well H known in Greensboro, Mrs. Lloyd was loved by both white and colored. Funeral rites will be held Sunday, ct 1 p. in., at St. Matthews Methodist church: Offidating at the services will be I I the pastor, Rev. G. M. Phelps. Interment will be Maplewood I cemetery. Survivors include one daughter 1 Mrs. Lucille Sheffield, of Wash ington, D. C.; one sister, Mrs Maggie Gilmer, Greensboro; on I brother, W. F. Johnson, Wash I H Ington, D.
