In the hour of high purpose,
music will summon the poten

them forward to great and glo

BENNETT ALUMNAE
BENEFIT DANCE
A SMASHING SUCCESS
(Continued from Page 1)
through other events of this sea
son. The cause that the guests
supported by their presence at
the dinner-dance was explained
by Mrs. Ellease Browning and
its importance stressed by Pres
ident Isaac H. Miller during a
bjrief interlude after dinner.
Mrs. Browning, President of the
Greensboro Chapter of Bennett
Alumnae and Director of Alum
nae Affairs at the College, ex
plained the purpose for the dance
as being to provide funds for a
scholarship to be awarded to a
Greensboro girl to attend Ben
nett College. The young lady
will be selected by this chapter
and awarded the scholarship for
the 1971-72 school year.
Miss Belinda Robinson, a
graduating senior from Peters
burg, Va., is a Bennett Pre
Alum and is the reigning
Greensboro Rose Queen for the
coming year. She was introduc
ed to the guests present. Also
on hand for an introduction
were Representative Henry Frye
who is up for re-election to the
North Carolina House of Rep
resentatives, and Mr. McNeil
Smith who is also campaigning
for a House seat.
Perhaps the social comment
of the evening was made by one
, of the younger guests when she
remarked "Watch how the gen
eration gap disappears on the
dance floor." She .was right!
The Greensboro Chapter looks
forward to a good year that will
boost their Bennett College Loy
alty Fund well over the $4,296
sum they contributed last year.
