President of Bridges and Hararick Hardware, was torn add ie3red on a farm about teu miles North of Shelby. After finishing the county school in his home community, he came to Kings Mountain where he attended high school, and has made his home hero ever since except for the two-year term] te served in the United States Navy , and for the time he attended business college In Charlotte. Mr. Bridges, in keeping with ' his patriotic ihyaliy to his country, volunteered for navy duty, during the world war. After the war this outstanding business man returned to Kings M/v.int o in u Kern Vic i-nii.ri.ri Itiicl. <'* VUII ia iii, " I V IIV vmviva u uu a ness, forming a partnership with R. C. Gold and buying out the W. A. Mauney and brother Store. The new film was known as Gold and Bridges later being succeeded by the present firm of bridges and Hamrick. which enjoys a wile trade throughout the Kings Mountain area. The other member of the firm, David R. Hamrick, will be written up in a later issue of The Herald. Mr. Bridges' leadership and ability is not confined to his business alone, but extends into other fields. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Kings Mountain for ten years, and has served for the past four years as a director of the Home Building and L<oan Association. Mr. Bridges is a loyal member of tbe First Baptist Church. He finds time to "serve the boys of bis cnurcn as Scoutmaster of the Baptist church i He has also taken a very aotive pari in Scouting in Kings Mountain. Mr. Bridges is very clviominded, always a leader in movements for tie advancement of Kings Mountain. He was named to serve an unexpired term on the Town Council in 1932.
