Lackey. Secretary and Treasurer ot the Kings Mountain Building and Loan Association, is a native-born citizen of Cleveland coon ty. This veil-known, business man began hU schooling in a log' school bouse near his home In rural Cloveland. Later he attended school at Cherryville and waa a atudent of the late Captain W. T. R. Bell. He then took a business course at Shelby and was a classmate of Mr. D. M. Baker, President of the Pirn National Bank c-f. Kings Mountain Mr. Lackey moved to Kings Mountain In 19011 and accepted a position with the Southern Railroad, a year later be resigned and became. associated with the Kings Mountain Manufacturing Co.. This position he hell until last December when he resigned to accept the- secretary and treusuryahlp of the Kings Mountain Building and Loan Association. ... Mr. l-jickey is a member of both St. Matthews Lutheran Church and Sunday School. lie served for 25 years as ireasuier of the Lutheran Church. At the present time he is Financial Secretary. Mr. Lackey married Miss Mary Kllen Plonk In 1903 audi to them have been born four children, Mrs. O. C. hMddle of Great F"alls,- S. C., Mrs. Lloyd Turner and John K Lackey of Kings Mountain and , Mfta Lillian lackey who teaches school at Oreswell, N.'C. The Kings' {Mountain Building and Loan Association is one of the oldest, associations In this section of the State. This financial institution ties helped many citizens of Kings Mountain, to own their borne. This association haa contributed a great deal to the growth and welfare of Kings Mountain by aMlng those who ordinarily would! have to rout to become home-owners and better citizens. Lynch, Editor and Publisher of the Kings Mountain Herald was born in Goldsboro, N. C. After completing high school Mr. Lynch attended Duke University. The local editor has spent practically all his life in newspaper work. He began as a carrier boy on the eld GoidWboro Daily Argus at the ( age of eight and has been connected with some phase of newspapering since. Mr. Lynch <-ame to Kings Mountain January 13, 1935. when he leas>ed The Herald from O. G. Page who 'was then owner. In June of the same year Mr. Lynch bought The Herald and has been In active charge of the publishing business since tnat time. Since coming to' Kings Mountain ' KJ4tor Lynch lias taken an active part In the civic affairs of ins cnoscn "henie-town." He is a member of t He first Presbyterian Church anil an usher. He was elected as a member of the Board cf Directors of the Kings Mountain Building anil L<nan Association. He is also president of the Kngs Mountain Soft Ball League. Mr. Lynch is a member of the Business Men's Club. Mr. and Mrs. Lynch have three girls, Betty, Jean, and Losste, and they live in their attractive new home on Cleveland Avenue.
