Bargar Saturday ' Miss Mable Je'Anne Griffin, dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Eilerbe Wilson Griffin of Kings Mountain became the bride of Robert Sellstrom Bargar, son of Mr. and Mrs. Crawford N Bar gar of Jamestown, N. V., in a simple and beautiful ceremony Saturday evenlhg at eight o'clock In Central Methodist church. Rev. Joseph Brendall, pSStof of the toride, officiated using the double ring ceremony. The vows were ex changed before a background of calms, fern and magnolia. Silvered candelabrum holding lighted ca thedral candles and silvered baskets .filled with mixed white blooms com pleted the decorations. Mrs. Aubrey Mauney, organist, of Kings Moun tain, Miss Emelyn Gillespie of Sa Jem College, Winston-Salem, and Mr. James Throneburg of Duke Uni versity choir and Glee Club, presen ted the wedding music.. Wadding Music ) Prior to the ceremony Mrs. Mann ey played "Barcarolle" from *">?? Miss Gillespie sang "Through the ?vears" by Youmans, and How I , Love Thee" by Lippe. Mr. Throne- 1 berg sang "1 Love Thee", by Grie*' ; "Bwause" by D'Hardelot. and at the , close of the prayer, "O Perfect ^e, "O Promise me" by De Kuven, and ??On the Wings of Song" were play ed In muto tones during the cere mony. The bridal attendants ap# proached the altar tc> the. atrains of "'Pomp and Circumstance by Elgar and the bride to the . strains from "Lohengrin by Wag ner. Mendelssohn's march from i a "Midsummer Night's Dream was used for the recessional. The bridegroom had for his best man Frank Taylor of Jamestown. Ushers were 'John L. Sellstrom, cous in of the groom, James Tillotson and Bob Bobbins, all of Jamestown and Wilson and Walter Griffin, brothers of the bride, and Bill Throneburg of Kings Mountain. . ? The brkle was given in marriage by her father. She wore an heirloom eown of bridal satin in Magnolia White made with fufll length sleeves and portrait neckline. The fitted bodice was on princess lines and the -wide cHnular skirt fell in a full len *th train. Tiny satin buttons ?rt end Id from neck to skirt yoke line in the back. The tiered vfeil vas of old ivory imported point laoe over silk illusion and fell from a filagree tiara of pearls. The brides veil was from her mother's trousseau .She carried a cascade bouquet of Hues of the valley, white orchids and stephanotls. Bridal Attendants Miss Marion Arthur of Charlotte and Kings Mountain was maid oT honor and Mrs. Frank Thomas Dres ser, cousin of the bride, Charlottes ville Va., was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Misses Caroline Morrow of Gaston i a, Jo Ann Fowler, of West Hartford. Conn , Eleanor Mc Knight, cousin of the groom, of Jamestown, N. Y , Virginia Summers of ChapcH HIM and Jean Webb of Greensboro College. The maid and matron of honor wore colonial dresses of Nile *r?n French Marquisette made with drop shoulder frills, full gathered skirts over hoops, with pointed walst-llnes outlined with deep frifls of self -material making a bustle effect and extending to the floor in the back. Their gloves were of white fritted nylon and they wore coronets of white nylon azaleas. Their colonial bouquets were of yet low and copper toned roses oh white mallne fritted background and tied with yellow satin ribbon. The brides maids bouquets were atmflar In de sign. They were made of a pastel colored sweet peas wirrounded by 'bcLU.donna blue delphinium and' jtied with Nile green ribbon. Mrs. Griffin, mother of the bride, | wore a wisteria crepe dress em jbroldered in silver with rhinestone ! and silver accessories and a pink or |chid shoulder bouquet. Mrs. Bargar was lovely in an oriental poppy chan i tilly dress with a shoulder corsage ( of white orchids. Reception Held After the ceremony the bride's par ents entertained with a reception at the Woman's Club. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Paul 'Neis ler. Mr. and Mrs. MoCfatt Ware pre sented them to the bridal party re ceiving in the lounge. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Jones of North WilkesborO, aunt and uncle of the bride, present ed guests to an informal receiving group made up of out of town rela tives of the bridal party. Dr. and Mrs. W. X- Ramseur directed into the ballroom where Mr. and Mrs. Halbert Webb received near the door. Mculded bridal ices shaped in to wedding bells, slippers, lilies and lovebirds were served with individ ual wedding cakes decorated in green. Punch was served by Mes dames Carl Mayes, Haywood Lynch, Charles Carpenter, Jr., and Mrs. O. P. Lewis. The long exquisitely ar ranged table covered with white linen was centered with silvered candelbrum filled with burning ta pers placed between lovely arrange- j ments of white stock, iuiip?,v and swefctpeas. Silver trays of bridal cakes, compotes filled with nuts and two crystal punch bowls completed the table appointments. Assisting in serving were Misses Martha Ann Lineberger of Gas tonia, Amanda Wall of Thomasville, Patty Neisler, Eleanor Myers, Shir ley Arthur, Jean Lynch, Barbara Gault, Ann Mayes, Dorcas Carpenter, Carolyn "McDaniel, Jo Ann McDani el, Jacqueline Goforth, Peggy Arthur and Nancy Nickels of Kings Moun tain. Mr. and Mrs. Frahk Summers di rected to the register where Mr. and Mrs. James Arthur presided. Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Myers told the guests goodnight in the hall. Mrs. James Herndon and Mrs. Fuller McGili played incidental music throughout the evening. The club lounge, and hall were beautiful with arrangements of mixed white ? flowers and the ball room with dogwood, magnolia foli age and ivy, and lighted by myriad candles. For going away the bride wore a , *uit of sheer wool in desert sand with ma-tching straw hat. Her bag, gloves, and shoes were of brown lizard and she wore a white orchid. Mrs. Bargar Is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. "Ellerbe W. Griffin and the granddaughter of R. Walter Kurfees and the late Luzene Max well Kurfees of Davie County. N. C. She was educated at Virginia Inter mom College, Bristol, Va., the Uni versity of N. C., and received her de gree from Syracuse University. He is a graduate of the Wharton School of Finance of the University of Pennsylvania and ser ved four years with the Navy in the Pacific theatre with the rank of lieutenant. He is assistant manager 1 of the Jamestown division of the S. M. Fllcklnger Co., Wholesalers. . After a wedding trip of several weeks in the south, Mr. and Mrs. Bargar will make their home in.
