Harriil, cele brated her fifth birthday annjver-' sary on Wednesday, March 30th, by entertaining members of -the Jack and Jill Kindergarderv. Prizes tyr pinning the fuzzy tail on the big Easter bunny , for the best number work, and best color- work were awarded to Jimmie Cranford, Lee SeUlemyre and Carolyn Pinnix. A large birthday ca;ke with cand< les was brought in. The children sang "Happy Birthday to Charlotte." Mrs. HarrUl assisted by Mrs. Arnold Kincaid and Mrs. Poston served small decorated cakes, ice cream and baskets of Easter Egg candies. The girls were given small ironing boards and irons as favors. The boys were given race cars. Charlotte then opened her many presents. Children present included: Becky Bowers, Jim Cranford, Susan Davis, Jane Hambright, Paula and Yvonne Hehn, Beth Houser, Edith Jane Kin caid, Patricia Pennington, Lynda Parton, Carolyn Pinnix, Joyce Plonk, Bi 1 lie Ramseur, James Robbs, Brenda Gail Hamrlck, Von, Lee and Ann Set. <lemyre, Billie Ware, Lynda Wilson, Marline Weir. Sara Betty Barnes, and Franklin Dean. At three-thirty that afternoon at the home of her parents, Charlotte entertained a number of her little friends who do not go to Kindergar den. The. home was made attractive with streamers of pink crepe paper and spring flowers. A large birthday cake with pink candles in animal plastic holders was In the center of the dining ta ble. Streamers of pink crepe paper were used from the celling to to ta ble. Individual decorated cakes and ice efeam were served to the follow ing: Sarah Cox, Susan Littlejohn, Te ressa Strickland, Diana Limerick, Mary Ann Beam, Frejda Blalock, A nita McGfnnis, Peggy Ware, Norma Lou Spearman, Barbs. a Moss, Doris Dixon, Becky Hill, Annie Vera Dill ing, Julia Bundy, Sandy Campbell, Jimmie Littlejohn, Coleman Fa^ls, Jr., Robert Paysour, Stevie Marlowe, George Metcalf, Meryle Randall, Dale Patterson, and Dwain Patterson of Shelby. Easter Pageant Sunday 5:30 The Primary and Intermediate de partments of (he Lutheran Sunday school will present an Easter - pa geant, "Three Gardens," . Sunday afternoon at 5:30. Mrs. J. B. Simpson and Mrs. G.ee Bridges will be the readers, Pat Alexander will lead in prayer. Characters are: Adam ? Ror.a-d Layton: Eve ? Billie Gibbons; An gel ? Annie Elsie Stender; Poem ? Judy Cox; Three Mary's ? Bobbie Stender, Jeanne Plonk, and Sybil Blanton: Flower Girls ? Freida Mc Oinnis, Jane Gosey, Barbara Proctor and Grade Dragonhead; Job ? Glenn Grigg, jr.; Peter ? David Plonk; Paul ? Dean Blackwell; John ? Charles Ledbetter; (Japan ? Joan Lackey; China ? Harold Sten der; India ? Jackie Dixon. Music will be furnished by the junior choir under the direction of Mrs. Aubrey Mauney. Flym Maun ey will play the violin. Mrs. George Houser, Mrs. G. E. Still and Mrs. J. M. Cooper will be in charge of the costumes and seen ery. Lighting will be under the di rection of Rev. W. H. Stender. The public is cordially invited to attend. Mrs. B. A. Murry Hostess At Parties Mrs. B. A. Murry entertained at a series of parties at her home Tues j day. The approaching Easter season ; was indicated in all decorations ant. table appointments. Floral arrange ments of snapdragons, lilies an<i white iris added to the festive at mosphere. In the afternoon Mrs. H. M. Biser and Mrs. M. C. Poston and members of the En t re Nous mridge club en Joyed bridge for several hours When scores were tallied Mrs. H. L Campbell was recipient of high score prize with Mrs. O. O. Jackson receiving low. The hostess assisted by Mrs. -M. C. Poston and Mrs. J. G. Darracott ser ved Angel food cake, whipped cream strawberries and coffee. Tuesday night, Mrs. Murry was hostess to th<* La Fete rook club. As sisted by , Mrs. Darracott and Mrs. poston th? hostess served a sweet, | course attractive little Easter bas ?kets were on each plate as favors. After interesting progressions high score prize was awarded Mrs. R D Goforth with Mrs. C. A. Goforth, Sr., winning low Mrs. A. H, Patterson was invited to play with the members and was remembered with a lovely gift as she had Just celebrated a birthday. MYF Sponsor Easter Program "The Old Rugged Cross" was the theme of the morning worship Sun day at the meeting of the Methodist Youth Fellowship. A cross, and a painting of dogwood painted by a former member, Mrs Tommy Alston. Jr., were used as a .vorship center. Kitty Falls, as program leader, gave interpretations of ITymns about the cross, which the group sang. "The Old Rugged Gross" was sung by Jack Matthews, Billy Allen, and Hunter Warlick. 'The Legend of the Dogwood" provided the talk. The program was presented from the rear of the chapel, with a spotlight on the worship center. Next Sunday morning a special Easter program will be presented in the youth chapel at 10 o'clock, Christ Arose," with Jean Davis serv ing as program chairman, and spe cial music by B. S. Peeler, Jr. At Ihe evening meeting of the Se> nlor Youth Fellowship, Jack Mat thews conducted a brief program, fallowed by Junior choir practice under the direction of B.-S. Peeler, jr. Next Sunday evening the pro gram theme will br? 'The Message of Easter." Seniors met Tuesday night at the h^me of Nan Jean Gantt for a 'Workshop" during which they made plans for an Easter program to be presented in the chapel on Good Friday. I Mrs. E. W. Neal Hostess To Circle 1 The Frances Garrison circle of the ARP church met Monday night with Mrs. E. W. Neal. Miss Pearl Hicks had charge of the program the subject was "Christian Literature." Others taking part on the program were: Mrs. Gurney Grantham, Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Pride Ratterree. We were glad to have the follow ing visitors: Mrs. W. L. Pressly, Miss Matilda Dedmon, Mrs. R. A. Guthrie and Mrs. Ray Foster. >We were very happy to enroll Mrs. Guthrie and Mrs .Foster as new members. . After a short business session a social hour was enjoyed. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess, Mrs. Neal. Miss Griffin Honors j Her Attendants The private dining room of the 'Jountry Club was attractively dec orated with spring flowers -last Fri day afternoon when Miss je Arine Griffin entertained complimenting her wedding attendants. For the occasion Miss Griffin wore an Orchid Dressmakers Press with gold accessories. The snowy white cloth with the low floral arrangement pf pastel flowers was a lovely setting for the delicious meal served.
