Three native Tar heels haue been employed to fill important positions with the Wild life Resource? Commission, accord ing to Clyde P. Patton, Executive Di rector of the Commission. "In filling any positions," Pat ton said, "applications are received from as large a field of applicants as possible. With training, experien ce, and other qualifications beirtg e qual, first consideration is given to North Carolina, residents." The three new employees will work in the Fish and Education Dl- j visions of the Commission. Hayden Monroe Rat ledge, a native of El kin, will work in the 'Fish Division i as a biologist, and has been assign- 1 ed to work on fish management a- 1 reas and other front streams in the| western part of the state. Ratledge is a graduate of North Carolina Uni versity at Chapel Hill, where he re ceived a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and studied fish biology under Dr. R. E. Coker. Currently working as a naturalist at Cliffs of the Neuse State Park near Golds boro. Ratledge will resign to take up his duties with the Wildlife Resour ces Commission soon after August 1. He will headquarter at Marion. Jack Dermid, a native of Charlotte has been emplo^pd as a Junior Pub licity Specialist with the Commis sion's Education 'Division. Dermid graduated from North Carolina State Co i Raleigh, tn June. V>49, with a Bachelor of Science degr**e in Wild life Management. Derjnid ha.s been aligned to duties as a photographer and to assist In the publication of educational material, with head quarters in Raleigh.
