More than a 70 percent increase was made this year over 1^8 in the number of North Carolina cows bred under the artificial insemination pro gram, reports John F. Brown, ex- 1 tension dairy specialist at State College. An estimated 21,000 were bred in 1919 as compared with only 12,600 last.year, Brown says. Guy Bamette's Father Succumbs Winslow Clinton Barnette. 73, fa ther of Guy Barnette of Kings Moun tain and Shelby merchant and fill ing station operator, died at his home Wednesday morning at 11:30 o'clock after a 'brief illness. He is survived by his wife, who prior to her marriage was Miss Bid di^ Jones; another son, FestUs Barn ette, of Mooresboro; two daughters, Mrs. J. J. Guffey, of Shelby; Mrs. Wayiand Washburn, of Shelby i;oute 4; three brothers, Monroe Barnette, of Shelby; A. N. Barnette, of Nash ville, Tenn., T. D. Barnettee, of Lum'- j bertOn, a sister, Mrs. J. D. Short of Shelby. He if ?*lao survived by 18 grandchildren and six great-grand children. Funeral was held Thursday morn ing at U o'clock from the Calvary Baptist church. Interment will take place in Sunset cemetery. ______ i Mrs. Morrison's Brother Dies j John Franklin Taylor, 34, resident of Shelby and an electrician with Branson's Electric company, died yesterday afterripdn at 4:55 at Shel by hospital after a ?rief illness. Funeral services were held Thurs day at 2 o'clock at the Lutz-'AusteM chape! with the Rev. W. W. Harris officiating. The body lay in state ior half an hour prior to the service. Burial at Sunset semetery in Shelby. Mr. Taylor is survived by his fa ther, Clarerice Taylor of Shetoy; his wife, Mrs. Edith Tarletoh Taylor; two sisters, Mrs. James Turner of Shelby and Mrs. George Morrison at Kings Mountain; and one brother, Flay Taylor of Boger City.
