Brooks, [professor of sociology at the Uni versity of North Carolina, will Join ilie' staff of North Carolina's Summer Studies on Facts About Alcohol, co-sponsored by the N, C. Alcoholic Rehabilitation Program and the UNC Extension Division at Chapel Hill June 9-13. A specialist in the sociological fields of criminology, family, com munity. and social control, Dr. Brooks will lecture on the Social Science' Approach to Social Prob lems. His travel* as a visiting professor and research scientist have Carried him over the nation, into Canada, to Hawaii, and the British Isles. Since coming to the University of North Carolina in 1935, Dr. Brooks has authored many arti cles in scholarly journals over the state and nation and has com piled wirk books and manuals on various sociological Subjects. Dr. Brooks has served as presi dent of the Southern Sociological Society, secretary to the Univer sity's Division of Social Sciences, members of the University's Ad ministrative committee on Per sonnel Curriculum, of the N. C. Mental Hygiene Society Executive them for the beautiful flowers, the lovely program, and other courtesies bestowed upon her.
