Mary Ann and Ronnie were dele gates from the Central Methodist MYF and will spend ten days at the camp. Misses Ann Mayes, Glenn Ann Hamrick and Jane Thompson of Shelby, Mof&att Ware, Hugh Neisler, Clifford Hamrick and Fedrick Garrett of Shelby were on a house party last week at the Hamrick home at Ocean Drive. Charles Thomasson of Cleve land, Ohio spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Charles Thomasson. Daye and Mr. Daye of Nantahala, N. Ct King Of Hearts Oub Met In Kerns Home Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Kerns were hosts ? Tuesday night to members of the King of Hearts bridge club. ?A variety of zinnias added a pleasing decorative note, to the party room. Mr. and Mrs. Fred McDaniel were the most successful players for the evening, receiving the ladle's and gentlemen's awards. Ice cream sundaes and cocoa colas were served when cards were laid aside. Twin Table Bridge Club ? Entertained By Mrs. Mayes Mrs. H. C. Mayes delightfully entertained members of the Twin Table club and several additional guests at her attractive home on Ridge Street Tuesday night. A variety of mixed summer flo wers and unsual arrangements of sumac and other native shrub blossoms made a lovely setting for the tables of bridge. Five progressions were played with Mrs. Charles Thomasson winning high score prize, second high going to Mrs. Johnnie Sma thers and the floating prize to Mrs. Claude Hambright. The hostess . was assisted in serving a congealed salad course, hot cheese squares, pickles, fancy sandwiches and green and white mints and a refreshing fruit drink with a large floating strawberry added. Invited guests of the hostess were Mrs. Johnnie Smathers and house guest, Mrs. Aubrey Cau thon of Charlotte, Mrs. Joe Nels ler,' Mrs. Robert Miller and Mrs, Fred Finger. MYF To Have Supper Meeting Sunday The Senior-Older Youth group of the Methodist Youth Fellow ship will, havfe a fellowship sup per Sunday evening in the church basement preceding their evening meeting. Supper will be provided by each member bringing a pic nic lunch. This group is planning an out ing at Lake Montonia next week, to stay two nights, under the di rection of Miss Celia Ann Ed wards, D. R. E. Plans are being made for Youth Activities Week, July 27 - August 1, with outstand ing youth leaders from nearby cities taking part in the work shops and programs. Tuesday Bridge Club Meets In Webb Home With only members present, Mrs. R. H. Webb was hostess this week to the Tuesday Afternoon Bridge Club. Mixed summer flowers with white predominating were used to create a party atmosphere in the home. At the tally of scores, . Mrs. Hugh Ormand held high for the afternoon games. Mrs. W. L. Ramseur held high for the series with Mrs. George Lattlmore second high. An ice cream coarse was served at the conclusion of ;ne games. Mrs. Hal Plonk Tuesday Bridge Hostess Mrs. G. M. Mauney and Mrs: J. C. McGill were invited on Tues day afternoon to play with mem bers of the Contract club with Mrs. Hal Plonk as hostess. The Plonk home was gay with arrangements of gladiloi ahd zinnias, fruit punch was served when all had arrived for the par ty and after the games home made ice cream and cake. Playing prizes were awarded to Mrs. C. T. Carpenter, Jr., and Mrs. H. M. Heavener for scoring highest and second highest. Methodist Young People At Lake Junaluska Attending the Senior MYF As sembly at Lake Junaluska this week are Buddy Mayes, Jo Ann and Jacob Dixon, and Celia Ann Edwards. They are to return Sat urday, and will give reports at the Sunday morning meeting of the Sr. M. Y. P. in the youth chapel. . Mrs. Baxter Payseur returned Sunday evening- from the Older Youth Assembly at Lake Junalus ka, where she served as adult councilor to a group of girls, and took a course, "Adult Workers ~ With Youth." Mrs. Potty Hostess At Canasta Party Mrs. G. V Petty entertained with a canasta party last Thurs day night. Senior Young People Attend Conference The following young, people from the First Presbyterian Church are attending a Senior Young People's Conference at the Kings Mountain Presbytery Camp at Flat Rock, North Car olina, July 7-12: Dolores David-* son, Lossie Lynch, Sam McCar ter, Anne McKelvie, Cynthia Plott, Bill Ruth, and Dick Webb. Dixon Circle No. 2 Met With Miss Farris Circle No. 2 of the Di*?'v Pres byterian Church met Tuesday ntght in the home t it Miss Ger^ trude Farris. Mrs. J. G. Darracott. advisor, presented the Bible Study ? based on scriptures taken from Gala tlans. After the business session, the hostess served ice cream and cookies. The circle was delighted to have Mrs. Bill Klein as guest.
