a few quotes from the political scene . . "YOU CANNOT BE A DEMOCRAT AND VOTE FOR A REPUBLICAN. THERE IS NO SUCI-PmiNG AS A DEMOCRAT FOR EISENHOWER". ? HARRY S. TRUMAN, OCTOBER, i 952. "" oh yeah, harry? ..... back home in Missouri, Harry Truman "even crossed the line into the Republican Party" to elect John Miles as county marshal. He CAMPAIGNED for the Republican candidate, who was an old army comrade and war hero. Said Mr. Truman "I'll have to plead guilty to that charge along with thousands of other ex-soldiers ? John Miles is of the right stuff, and A MAN WHO WOULDN'T VOTE FOR HIS COMRADE UNDER CIRCUMSTANCES SUCH AS THESE WOULD BE UNTRUE TO HIS COUNTRY. I KNOW THAT EVERY SOLDIER UNDERSTANDS IT. I HAVE NO APO LOGY TO MAKE FOR IT." (taken from page 1 17 of Jonathan Daniels book THE MAN OF INDEPENDENCE.) changed his tune hasn't he? ? ? . ? j . ? "MY FATHER AND GRANDFATHER WERE DEMOCRATS. AND I WAS BORN AND BROUGHT UP A DEMOCRAT, BUT WHEN I CAST MY FIRST VOTE FOR A PRESIDENT, I VOTED FOR THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE, BECAUSE I THOUGHT HE WAS A BETTER DEMOCRAT THAN THE DEMOCRATIC CAN DIDATE." ?FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT Oct.. 1938 "IF THERE IS A GOOD LIBERAL RUNNING ON THE REPUBLICAN TICKET, I WOULD NOT HAVE THE SLIGHTEST OBJECTION TO HIS ELECTION. THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY RISES ABOVE PARTY!" * ? FRANKLIN D.ROOSEVELT Sept. 1939 , we're with you ?here Mr. Roosevelt! "I WILL NOT VOTE FOR A LABEL. I AM SUPPORTING EISENHOWER FOR PRESIDENT." ? the greatest living SOUTHERNER, GOV. JAMES F. BYRNES ON NOVEMBER 4th, REMEMBER Communism ? v ? t * ?> , , i Alger Hiss sold America down the drain to Russia. He was a chief adviser at the Yalta, Potsdam and Teheran confer ences that enabled Stalin to enslave 600 million people and one-third of the world without firing a shot. Truman called the Hiss trial a "Red Herring" in spite of the fact that three different important men had tried for 10 years to tell him that Hiss was a communist. The Prims Minister of Canada made a special trip to tell Truman that Russian spies were after the atom bomb, and GAVE THEIR NAMES. Truman did nothing about it, and Russia GOT the atom bomb. The State Dept. order ed the FBI not to arrest Russian agents that were known to be carrying our military secrets out of the country. After all this, in 1948, Truman said, "We have nothing to fear from communists in our government." Stevenson STILL says so. hasn't he got eyes? ? There has been almost a major scandal a day during the last administration of Harry Truman. Never has the Federal LOrrUDtlOn Government been so full of thievery, graft and bungling. The trail of mink coats and deep freezers leads straight to the * White House and stinks to high heaven. While Truman bleeds us taxpayers dry, over two dozen of his tax collectors have been caught stealing our money or taking bribes from people who didn't pay their taxes. Yet Truman ignores this and yells for more and more taxes. ALL STEVENSON HAS PROMISED IS MORE OF THE SAME. ADLAI TELLS US THERE IS NO CORRUPTION IN OUR GOVERNMENT! hasn't he got a nose? The Korean War has been going on for two years, there have been over 120,000 American casualties, and all Truman and Stevenson can say is that we're doing fine in Korea. They warn us it may go on for TEN MORE YEARS. Is this lead ership? Eisenhower, a great military leader, has promised to go to Korea and see for himself what can be done to stop the slaughter of American boys. Has Truman been to Korea? Has he showed any interest in taking action? He has been too busy throwing mud at our greatest living American. hasn't he got a conscience? Korea Remember, A Vote for Stevenson is A Vote for Truman NEED WE SAY MORE? CLEVELAND COUNTY CITIZENS FOR EISENHOWER Yon are cordially invited to attend out rally Friday night in the Shelby Armory and to watch the IKE-A I THON on television Saturday night beginning at 11 o'clock.
