Personality Is
Theme of Lecture
''The personality is how we re
act to other people and how they
react to us," said Miss Ella Ste
vens Barrett, of the State Depart
ment of Education in the field of
guidance in her lecture to parents
and teachers at Central auditori
um on Tuesday, October 28, Her
topic was "Personality Through
the Curriculum".
Miss Barrett commented that
we are no longer concerned about
subject matter first but about the
Individual boy or girl ? <? his full
personality. We are trying to help
develop so as to live with others- -
to be in "tune". .
"We must help the child to de
velop ertain things ? an under
standing of himself, self confi
dence. creativeness and Initia
tive," she continued. "lie must be
able to accept different Individ
uals ? their ideas, to learn to
be a contributor, to know how to
use information, and to discover
some oX the lasting values in him
self."
Miss Barrett concluded by say
ing that these developments will
make the child feel in tune. What
are we doing to help them grow?
