This is a , newly organized clr-' cle and was named for the mother of Clarence Cornwell. Miss Helen Logan was guest speaker for the meeting and gave a very vivid account of the life of Mrs, Corn well. Mr Cornwell presented the circle with a book on "The His tory of the Baptist Church" in memory of his mother. Following the meeting the hos tess served a salad and sweet course. Smith celebrated his 69th birthday on Sunday, November 2, the occasion being marked by a gathering of his children," other relatives and friends at his home. A picnic dinner was served at the noon hour. Mr. and Mrs. Smith have five sons and three daughters. All were present for the happy occa sion, except one daughter who lives in Georgia. Mrs. Booth Gillespie Is Circle Hostess Members of Circle No. 3 of the Presbyterian Church held their regular monthly meeting Monday night In the home of Mrs. Booth Gillespie. Mrs. Frank Hoyle, chairman of the circle, called the meeting to order, after which the Lord's prayer was prayed in unison. Mrs. P. D. Patrick had charge of. the devotional period, the topic for discussion was, "Are You Lay ing Hope on Christ?" Mrs. Pat rick was .assisted by Mrs. Frank Hoyle and Mrs. Arthur Hay. Mrs. Hubert Davidson had ar ranged a very interesting pro-1 gram, "Criticism, Public Enemy No. 1". The program was closed with a poem on "Hope". During the business it was vot ed to change the hour of meeting to seven-thirty during the winter months. Members were urged to attend the World Community Day to be observed Friday with a ser vice in the Presbyterian church at 7:30 p. m.
