Sidney Lackey Funeral Friday Sidney Lackey, 50, resident of Akron. Ohio, and former resident of Kings Mour^ain and Cleve land county, died in Akron, Ohio, Monday. Mr. Lackey had moved to Ak ron 25 years ago and was asso ciated with the Good Year Rub ber plant corporation there. Funeral services will be con ducted Friday at 11 o'clock a. m. from Bethlehem Baptist church. Rev. R. El Robbins, pastor of the | church, will officiate and burial j will follow in the church ceme- j tery. The body will arrive at Harris Funeral home Thursday at 4:33 p; m. and will remain there until one hour prior to the service i when it will be taken to the church to lieln-tsate. McSwain has tendered his resignation a* pastor of two Kings Mountain area Baptist churches, David's Chapel and Allen Memorial. McSwain Resigns Pastorates Here The Rev. W. Lawrence Mc Swain of Kings Mountain, route 2, pastor of David and Allen Me morial Baptist churches, tendered his resignation at services last Sunday. ? ? Mr. McSwain has served these churches since tt'e first of March 1949, coming here from the Glen Alpine Baptist church. Hp will continue to serve in his prestnt pastorate throughout the raor.lh of June, when his resignation will become effective. After clo sing his ministry here he will move with his family to Hollis where he will serve the Big Springs and Mount Olivet churches of the Sandy Run as sociation. The present pastorate of Mr. McSwain is his third, he having served at Harmony and at Glen Alpine before coming to the Kings Mountain association, his native association. Mr. McSwain Is a graduate of Wake Forest college and of the Southern Baptist Theological seminary at Louisville, Ky., hav ing received the degree of Mas ter of Theology from the latter. Mrs. McSwain attended the Wo mans' Missionary Union Training school, Elon college and Lenoir Rhyne college, and has taught in the schools of Glen Alpine and Kings Mountain. During the four years of work on the present field, each of the two churches has made marked progress along several lines: Each has had an increase in mem bership; each has strengthened Its organizational life; each has liquidated a sizeable debt; and each had a building budget for future building and Improve ments.
